6600 vs. SX1

Hi all,

Is'nt another avantage of the sx1 that it has upgradable firmware?

I think all of them have upgradable firmware 😃 Are you reffering to user upgradable firmware?I don't know about that,it would be great if its true,it was a P800 feature promissed by SE,unfortunately, they still haven't delivered.

I might buy the 6600, but its a real let down that it doesnt feature a radio or an mp3 player... The SX1 is a series 60 phone, containing both radio and mp3. The keypad idea is risky though.... and it may seem really hard to handle.

I am more likely to buy the 6600 because Nokia is well known and has a history of great phones... It is amongst one of the first companies to produce cell phones, and it is trusted by almost everyone.

i am refusing on buying 6600,coz i wanna to buy PDA-HP iPAQ 2215,and use it with my N3650 for gprs internet via bluetooth.

Forget radio and mp3, at least there are mp3 players for the series60 but what we could really get on a multimedia phone is STEREO sound with some decent speakers. Geez not that hard.

The N-Gage with a camera built in... dreaming again. As far as the SX1 goes I would have to play with it before saying anything as I though the keypad on the 3650 would be not useable and it turned out to be fairly decent.

At the end
By reading all of the posts we all conclueded that the SX1 is way ahead of the 6600 in the features but a little late in its look
(in my opinion i don't think that it looks that bad)

SO THE SX1 WINS

All you have to do is ADMIT IT

I think its more UI dependant then OS dependant. The p800 runs UIQ and Symbian 7.0 but native C++ apps don't work on Series 60 Symbian 6.1 devices. Its the same with the communicator,Series 80,Symbian 6.0.The 6600 runs Series 60 2.0 and Symbian 7.0s but most of the applications should work on Series 60 2.0 and Symbian 7.0s(The 6600)and Series 60 1.X and Symbian 6.1(the SX1).

So if your question was, will apps for the SX work and the 6600 and vice versa, then then answer would be,most of them will.

PS: Sorry if the post was confusing, writing this in a hurry 😊

Symbian 7.0s has been intentionally created to be binary compatible with 6.1. That was not true with 7.0 (without the "s"😉.

Apps written using Series 60 1.x and Symbian 6.1 documented APIs will work on Series 60 2.0 and Symbian 7.0s.

Vice versa is not necessarily true, as API's on the newer platform are not available on the older one.

I did it! I love Symbian, but the UMTS Thing here in Austria is so cool (Videocalls) that i just got myself a video phone (NEC 606). Batttery Life sucks, rest is great (except it is not symbian and java apps dont have access to UMTS)

No SX1 for me anymore...

Anyone knows a forum for 3g devices?

OK, Im off topic i know...

Well,i wouldn't be,the only thing the nec 606 seems to perform well in is Videocalls. That is what i read on various websites,so i cant confirm it.

well i tried the NEC 606 on the network "3" and the phone is big for a clamshell type but when i saw the NEC 808, wow NEC 606 is kind of small enough LOL

on the menu side the phone was OK but a bit confusing and well the 3G with the video calls is wow but it's kind of laggy a bit. The worse part is when you are talking with Video calls there is no Loud speaker so the only way is u use the Handsfree. Also the battery just last about one day and it comes with a bigger battery but it is big very big LOL

the best thing about the phone is the music player it sound very very good but the downside is you must convert it to .WMA format.

for Java well u can't really install freely cos the only way to get it via the "3" site. For the services in here australia u get everything for free for the first 3 months the Cinemas time, weather, movie preview, news, comedy

but after that u must pay for every services that u use

The NEC E606 will be replaced soon with an updated model from NEC. It fixes most of the problems with the current handset; we should see it by the end of the year. The Z1010 is also in its way in the near future...

The video recording feature on the 606 and the 808 (which is only 49.99 / US$80 on pre-pay in the UK at the moment!) is terrible! The Symbian handsets do a much better job.

"3" are doing very well inthe UK at the moment, but they do have some serious coverage problems outside of London.
Well what is your opinion?

I guess that the SX1 will be available earlier and with better features.
(i love the radio and the mp3 player and it can do anything that my 3650 can do, which is in my opinion made in a too cheap way - plastic toy is the magic word)

The only thing i miss on series 60 smartphones: Fullscreen Pictures for incoming calls.

Well i dont like that you can not go fullscreen for videos on the SX1.

Mono on 6600 sucks! But the screen rules!

I guess I will go for a SX1!

Let me know your opinion!
The diff. between these two is,

In 6600, you can say "Look MA! I'm using it in one hand!"

In SX1, "Duh! can you hold the steering wheel for me?" 😃 😃 😃

And if you got any sort of brains you will be using a BT or wired headset and not touch the phone at all.

judell74,have you actually used the SX1?Well I have and its not really difficult(For me)to use it one handed.

If you got also any sort of brains, the headset is useless if you are texting! :agrue:

Hey dude! imagine this, if you are pressing keypad #1 eventually your thumb will cover the screen. Yes you can do it in one hand but its difficult.
