Just my two pence;
A friend's P800 is currently barred to all networks after it crashed on him during a format. Orange want 300 PLUS his remaining insurance payments to change it for a new one and SonyEricsson refuse to repair it saying he has damaged it purposely.
Not what you'd expect from Ericsson really, Sony on the other hand....
You can see a few more images of the P810 and some info here: http://mobile.burn.com/news.jsp?Id=375
Personally, I'm waiting with my P800 & T610 until the SX-1 or 6600 shows up.

Think about it, the P800 was released almost a year late, if the P810 is "supposedly" released Q3 2003, then you are likely to get it Q2-3 2004.
The P800 was postponed because of problems and bugs with the software (firmware). I'm guessing by the looks of it the P810 will use the same software, only difference is the hardware, so there should be no problem as bugs have been ironed out (almost) in the P800.
Somehow I don't think it's quite as simple as you make out!, and you say the P800 has all the bug ironed out?....one major "bug" will stop me from buying another P800 or P810...the warranty!

SNAP!
Well nearly, my phone died 2 months ago and SE are saying the warranty is void because I installed "Non SE certified" software, which by my reconing is about 95% of all software available for the phone.
So my 500 phone is now a lovely paperweight.
Cheers Ghostdog, I have replied before reading the entire thread.
Well Ghostdog explained it pretty well...what they mean by Non-SE certifited is the certificate when you install it.
Basicly the software supplied on the CD and Opera are ok, if you install anything else SE can f**k you off, or at least have in my case, Celestica, C.R.C, and SE have all said the same thing.
I think I was unlucky in my case as normally it should just accept a ROM Flash with the new firmware but mine was refusing it. So when it came to warranty replacement time they wouldn't budge.
Anyway, there is no doubting it is a great phone, I prefer it to my 8910i/PPC combination that I currently use, but I rely on my Mobile quite a lot and can't afford for it to be getting repaired as often as it has been since I started buying Symbian phones...the 7650 was sent away twice, the 9210 once and the P800 once...this last time I have been without a phone for 1 1/2 months...which can't happen again!...I have payed 50 in line rental for my sim card to sit on my window and not get used.
K.I.S.S - Keep it simple...stupid 😃
When/If I get another Symbian or any other OS based phone in the future it will be as a 2nd handset.
i have no insurance on my p800 but there's this club mowbli which carphone warehouse offers which is ten quid a year and covers a small amount of stuff including water damage, i'll get that tomorrow and so if my phone breaks from third party stuff, i'll quickly drop it down the toilet and fish it back out and then take advantage of the next day courier replacement service too, much cheaper than full out insurance at like 120 a year,
lets go back to P810 .. and not Jordans story
I dont like how the P810 looks like.. Espcially the speaker at the back, looks primitive.. Unless it has more memory (atleast double) and a faster processor(30-50% faster than the P800) I dont think ill be interested it.
I also dont like the keypads, the look like the Nokia 89** series phones where its very hard to press the keys..
Waiting full specs, and price of course.
Last comment on Jordans thing from me.....
The certification that .sis files mention is nothing to do with SE. When you write a symbian app, you can register a unique ID with symbian for that app. This id will be provided by Symbian and hardcoded into the app. If this is done then the certification window will be different.
Now, the point is most software developers do not ask symbian for this id (i don't know if the service is chargeable) and as such very little software is certified. I don't think that Opera even has one (early versions defs didn't, dunno about the latest version).
So as such there is no such thing as SE-Approved S/W. In any case the Warrenty mentions nothing about approved software only improved installers.
Argue it, remember that the majority of companies (not just tech, but cars, home, banks, anything) rely on the fact that the majority of people cannot be bothered to argue. So they give you a schpeel and then hope you look no further.
Send them an email stating you want a replacement and that if they disagree you will be sending a copy of all your correspondance to Watchdog or the newspapers. Amazing how quickly they turn around - my friend had an arguement with Carphone Warehouse. He got no response for 2-3 weeks then sent all his correspondance to everybody in his address book and the issue was sorted within a day!
Good luck dude.

Noted, I have been complaining/shouting at them for over a month now..to be honest i'm not that bothered anymore.
Sorry to take over the thread, back to the P810 - Which IMO is vapourware for the time being. :P

Same pictures as before, just rotated.
Even if it is a mockup (or just a fake) would be nice to have it re-done without the blur.
Here are some pictures of the P810...
My p800 died, on onrange, and i got a replacement that evening, with extra stylus and keypad. 😃
Its doenst look like you can remove the keypad on that, there are no bit poking out for the keys on the back of the flip, and the hinges look a lot chunkier.
mmmm doesnt look half bad 😃
But it is impossible to judge a phone on just how it looks. I will reserve any judgement and comparison until I know the specs, price and get the demo phone in my hand.
The appetite for information has only been teased, I need more! 8)
It would be nice if the owner of that phone would take a picture with the phone turned on and a picture of the thickness of the phone. As well as the detailed specs that we all long for. 😉

The pictures above look like the same batch as before, so nothing new, but the original link to the Swedish site had a phone without a keyboard, showing the side.
If this is real, and not a fake or dummy, then the lack of pins on the back of the keyboard would suggest a membrane pad, so connection would go through the (chunkier) hinges. I suspect that the whole assembly can still be pulled out. Hope so, anyway. :-?
If this is true, it wont come out for a while, not before the end of the year as the 3G phone SE are bleeting on about has been on their site for at least 6 months and doesn't appear to be near release.
And besides, the first picture posted looks blantantly fake, and does not even look like the same phone as the second batch of photos. And those ones, I belive that phone exists, but why should it be a P810 or p800 succesor? Why is it not a proto P800 in a different case? Many designs would have been mooted before release, and on ebay they were selling a silver P800 which was just a proto p800 and NO DIFFERENT at all.
There will be a new P800, but not for ages. And for everyone who will now wait for a P810... I'll see you at the shop knowing that I already had a P800 for a year. Thats if you make it, cos no doubt you'll then wait for the next new phone which is 'only out in 2 months'...
These rumours are coming from a site that is well known for doing just that - spreading rumours. I wouldn't take these "news" seriously.
Mobil took it from Svenska Dagbladet, which did an interview with Ericssons boss. He did tell he uses an T610, but wanted the 810 which were going to be released in the autumn. He also told the info about camera and display..
Guess SonyEricsson bosses is NOT happy.....
Yeah well, it so happens that I understand Swedish perfectly well, and the only article that Mobil.se could be referring to is dated back almost 4 MONTHS, and it doesn't mention anything about a 1.3Mp cam etc.. Besides, Mobil.se actually claims that the interview with Carl-Henrik Svanberg was written in Svd the same day they wrote about this P810 "news", but I've searched Svd.se only to find, guess what, NOTHING. The only article mentioning a P810 is the one dated back to the 3'rd of March, and Carl-Henrik Svanberg isn't even in it.
This whole thing just seems like a big hoax to me, and even if those pics posted here are in fact real, it doesn't mean they are in fact portraing a new P810. As far as I'm concerned this is nothing but vaporware.
P810 or not, even if the suppose spec are better, I don’t like the design of this phone I preferred by far the P800 (it look like a prototype of Ericsson release some year ago); It’s just a little thick. I suppose the survey some weeks ago was to prepare the release of a new p800 and the unofficial pics are just to have your opinion on a prototype, so if you are not happy express it, they still have time to change.
(I think SE is aware of this forum and notice your opinions)
Here's another site getting involved, not much more information though.

From the back it looks slightly like Sony J5, if it is only slimmer and with camera improvment i would still consider buying it. Im just worried about the keypad, i like removing mine and outting it back on, we'll have to dee i guess! BTW im very drunk, does it show? 8)

This "accidental" leak could also be a trick from SE. That way they'll ensure that some people will wait for it and won't buy a Nokia 6600 or something...
UPDATE: clubsonyericsson.com claims there will be a press conference about the P810 in a few days!

If that's true. It would be great.
SE Manila already confirmed to me that there is going to be a new P800 series phone to be released before the year ends

Its ok thanks Jules, it was my stomach that was playing up! Cheap drinks! :P

I can't wait! 😃
You know what? I think this is a dummy "display" unit. Because if it wasnt, why wouldnt they take a pic of this on? I also noticed that on the flip open there arent any pointers on the back of the keypad to touch the screen (Check out your P800 keypad flip on how these pointers should look like..)
