Full phone formatting on a 6600!
If you encounter situation like below on your 6600,
1. Blank screen phone unable to reboot.
2. Phone only able to boot-up to "Nokia" word screen.
3. Install some program but not able to uninstall it after that.
4. Unable to delete unwanted files on C drive.
Do a Full phone formatting on your 6600! as steps below,
1. Make sure you have at least 3/4 charge of battery power left.
2. Backup your contacts list and personal files to MMC memory card.
3. Switch-off your 6600 phone.
4. Press and hold 3 keys; Green dial key, * Star key, no. 3 key on keypad and then press the power on/off to swtich on the 6600 phone.
Remember, do not let go the 3 press and hold keys until you see a formatting word screen show!
5. After a few minutes when the Full phone formatting completed, your 6600 will back to original system and factory settting.
Bye and enjoy!
is it like str/alt/del on a windows pc? 😃
shouldn't this be in a sticky thread "6600 faqs" among many other valuable informations? 😎
How long will it take before formatting is done?
Around 3 to 4 minutes.
(Sorry no pinpoint time as I didn't time it when performing it)
well, mine stopped right before the letter F. And its not moving... What can i do??
Did you doing it with at least 3/4 battery left?
If yes, try it again.
If it still failed then probably you need to send for Nokia to reload the phone firmware.
the battery was full. ive tried several times now. it still stops at f.
Maybe you should do it with the SIM and MMC card removed.
So far I haven't seen or heard of letter F screen situatiuon.
nope.doesnt work. oh well i guess ill take it to service.
Eulogy
Sorry for not able to help you to overcome your situation.
So far yours is the first "Nokia screen, then White screen" case that I aware off couldn't benefit from performing the "Full phone formatting" on a 6600 phone.
Its ok. Ill just send it to service. Will only take a couple of days.
*#7370# also works for formating, so no need to perform difficult key combinations

would it do any harm to my nokia 6600?
It will erase all data except the MMC card and return the device to factory setings.
Tried *#7370#, it does not harm your machine.
It works fine

But this is only a soft-format. The "difficult key combination" does the real job ! ! !
Its not a soft format. *#7370# erases all data from the device and returns it to factory setings.

Good Luck.

It is :
Switch off the phone,
Press and hold 3 keys;
Green dial key,
* Star key,
no. 3 key on keypad
and then press the power on/off to switch on the phone.
Remember, do not let go the 3 keys until you see a formatting screen showing!
If you did nt change it, the pincode is 12345
Good Luck.
that is exactly what i did

Take off the battery for an hour and try again (first thing to do, don't switch on before)
If that does not work . . .
Then, I think, only a Nokia Service Point have to bring you a sollution.
Good Luck.
i tried the hard reset method with the 3-key combination and have successfully formatted my 6600.
the problem now is that whenever i install an application, the menu shortcut does not show right after the installation. instead, i would have to restart then the application icon shows on the desktop menu.
what happened?

DONO, probably you missed a bit and then you will have a problem.
Do the thing again, but only as a soft-format: *#7370#
Good Luck.
Hi all
Ive bought a used Nokia 6600 and changed the battery (just in case) ... I tried the 3 key format and and worked great ! .. but for some reason when I installed Agile Messenger it will not connect to the server! .. I am sure my GPRS (Saudi Telecome) settings is correct .. so did anyone have this problem ?
I am not sure if this is helpful or not, but on the Nokia site you can get your settings sent to your phone for a whole load of different networks, this worked for me with my nokia 3650 and Orange.

let me tell u guys that all these tech's are harmfull to the phones memory...u might work it out and belive me one day ur phone will be totaly dead...
this way of formating actuly will only erase the virtual memory, but the right formating is to format the flash memory, it is like formating ur hard disk....the formating way u r using it's only like delete the files and put them in the recycle bin and in fact they will stay on ur hard disk...this is the same thing happing when u perform these kind of formats...
😎
the engineer, stop spreading false information.I have corrected you in 4-5 threads so far, more then a half of your posts have been total BS.These phones are not toys, they are expensive devices so giving false information/advise might cost someone a lot.If you continue to do so you might get banned.
When you do a hard reset using *#7370# everything is erased from the phone's memory. Not moved to the "Recycle bin" or stored in another location. And what Virtual memory are you talking about?!?!
Do i sense a jimmy-floyd replacement.
look guys, i was advising u, coz the thing i'm an engineer in one of the nokia service center...
that's y i KNOW alot of things...and i can tell what's good and not..and it's all up to u then...
