Full phone formatting on a 6600!

If you encounter situation like below on your 6600,
1. Blank screen phone unable to reboot.
2. Phone only able to boot-up to "Nokia" word screen.
3. Install some program but not able to uninstall it after that.
4. Unable to delete unwanted files on C drive.

Do a Full phone formatting on your 6600! as steps below,

1. Make sure you have at least 3/4 charge of battery power left.

2. Backup your contacts list and personal files to MMC memory card.

3. Switch-off your 6600 phone.

4. Press and hold 3 keys; Green dial key, * Star key, no. 3 key on keypad and then press the power on/off to swtich on the 6600 phone.

Remember, do not let go the 3 press and hold keys until you see a formatting word screen show!

5. After a few minutes when the Full phone formatting completed, your 6600 will back to original system and factory settting.

Bye and enjoy!

hi there dude ,this is kabir ,, well a few days back my battery charger got spoiled so as it was an emergency, i opted for a cheaper battery charger when i first inserted the charger ,i received warning messages saying MEMORY LOW DELETE SOME DATA , first i thought may b my MMC card was full but it started happenin regularly and when i checked my memory space ,it was 30mb empty ,
and after that i got the orignal nokia battery charger , and now there is another problem occuring , i m not able to view the GALLERY , whenever i m opening it it is showin the warnin message OPENIN FILES and stucking there itself , and even the camera aint workin whenever i m takin a snap it is sayin TEMPORARY OVERLOAD . and also i m not able to activate the blue tooth option .CAN ANY BODY HELP ME PLZZZZZZZZZZZ.:frown:

Hey guys, I have a problem with my nokia 6600. When I turn it on it boots up to the first nokia screen (with a colour picture) then it just fades to black. I can hear it working and by pressing buttons I can get it to the main screen where you can hear the tones when dialing a number (even tho I cant see anything).

I have tried formatting it using the green,*,3 method and it does a full format. i have tried this with the sim card and mmc in and out. It still does the same thing, fades to black.
Im guessing it isnt the screen otherwise I wouldnt be able to see the first nokia screen. Any suggestions?

Ei man....Thank you very much for posting this...you saved my ass ....hahaha.

I installed mc.affe in my phone and it started goiung berzerk.....it would just load main screen and then it would just hang up...I cant use the restart usign #7370# cous I cant even tyoe anything...

great job!

Thanks

Sorry if I am posting this thread to the wrong section, but I am a newbie!!

Please can someone help me out, I have been given a 6600. It boots up past the Nokia hands logo. Then locks (At bootup) onto the camera icon, on one side & the goto menu on the other side. Then locks up and says general system error ! Then freezes on this screen. I have tried a format as described but the phone will not accept any input. Are there any shorts on the circuit board I could try to reset the bios? Or is it knackered?

I would love to get this phone going, as I always wanted one but could not afford the cash. It has not been locked out as it is a legit phone.

Thanks for your time
Peter

Can i use this to a nokia 3660 phone? I'm having the same problem... I can only see a "Nokia" at bootup then nothing happens... I cannot type *#7370# because it fails to boot.

i really need help formatting my N90, i dont know how to ,i need to format the phone it self not the memory, 2nd issue,, when i try to go to "go to" it attempts to open it but it doesnt, any ideas why??

i really really appreciate help from any body

guys, i tried to format my N6600 but using the "3 keys" and "*#7370#" but it didn't work i still get a mesage "messaging: Not enough memory to perform operation. Delete some data first (-2).

There are also several errors that pops up when i open the 'message', 'calendar', 'contacts'
a) system error (-25)
b) telephone error (-3)
c) telephone error (-25)

i guess the problem on my phone is on the ROM. how can i delete all the files in it?

Need your help, guys....thanks

What about the applications? Will they get uninstalled or the ones in MMC will alone remain unaffected?

Hello all,
Now i have been reading all the replys' etc on the formatting of my 6600 but no one has asked that when i format using the green + *+3 will i lose my photos ? I cant back them up on to the MMC because i cant get into the phone without the "general system error" coming up every second and thats as far as it gets so im assuming that they are sitting in gallery but im afraid i might lose them? Can someone help please?

An Nokia Service Point can do that!

I dont think so!

-thanks-

Befor do a format, You shoul do a backup, because, after, is to late.

Eulogy wrote:How long will it take before formatting is done?

3 seconds press b4 d display 'formatting" appears.. and the process is stamated 3mins to 5. 😃

Yes, just like juham_guiang83 mentioned it takes 3 to 5 minutes.

But, I should tell you this 'Hard Format' procedure needs a little patience. I had tried 5 failed times, and the got it working the 6th time, totally twisting myself - like I was doing a reptilian foreplay.

It is better if you had someone to help you switch on the power button.
