Still nothing 4 message tunes....

You can set mp3s as ringtones by placing them in the c:/sounds/digital or e:/sounds/digital folder rather than music. This allows you to keep your music out of the ringtone selection (which in my case makes the list about 10 times as long...). It also allows you to choose an mp3 as your message tone.

I've not done too much experimenting, but it seems to solve the problem of not being able to choose your own message tone.

Will the "blue haze" on camcorder (and videos in poor light conditions) be fixed with a new upgrade...
And btw... when the new firmware upgrade is coming out?!
Thanks in advance for your replies 😊

I need someone to help me with my problem please.
I have just done a software update of my N73 because it had some bugs, so the version software I have now is V3.0649.0.0.31 RM-133.
Now I have problems with making phone calls, every time i make one or two calls, then when i try to call once again to one of my numbers, it just doesn't do anything, it doesn't respond to my press,
but i can dial a number manually and make a call,
but cant call ny1 from the phone-book.

Okay, this might seem as a minor issue compared to all the high tech questions and remarks i read here, but hopefully someone can help me.

My previous N73 was stolen last weekend. I just received a new one from Vodafone, but the whole menu is different.
I have found out how to move and rearrange icons within the main menu, but how do i rearrange icons on my main screen?

The left hand button gives acces to messaging, which is fine, but the one on the right gives access to vodafone live. My previous phone had the clock there, which i would like to have there again. I am not able to snooze anymore because the clock is not on this access point in my phone. Hahah! I know, silly, but i loooooove to snooze!

Hope so can give me advice on this 😊

Cheers,

Desiree

You need to go to settings-> phone-> standby mode
In there you will find all the options for what you can assign where on the standby screen. By turning active standby on, you show a row of shortcuts, instead of having to remember which direction to push the joystick, and a selection of your appointments and to-dos.
It may not be possible to change the vodafone live button, but if you feel brave, you can flash the firmware to a generic model (see elsewhere for instructions on that).

I upgraded to ME 3.0705.1.0.31 yesterday. Everything went well until I restored my back up from the memory card. On rebooting, the phone wouldn't get past the Nokia logo on start-up. Had to remove the battery to switch off. Pressing down [and holding down] the Green+3+* buttons while switching on resolved the problem. All data restored, except the phone book. Luckily that was backed up on my pc. Phone is running much smoother now, but not sure exactly which bugs have been fixed.

When using special characters [, , , etc] in sms's, it still uses about 2 to 3 parts to send the message, even when it's just a couple of lines long.

My main issue however, when receiving 3GP video clips, a huge white border appears around the outside. When sending the same clip to my old 6600, this doesn't happen. Try and explain this to either Nokia or my Network provider... Well, need I say more. [Where they manage to find the level of incompetance to employ at their call centres are beyond me!] Nokia blames the Network and vice versa...

Anyone got info or solutions to either there problems? When sms'ing in my mother tongue, I use special characters quite frequently. The problem was not present in the old generation phones.

Thanx

I got 3 bugs with my N73 (v.3.0649.0.0.1) and haven't figured out how to solve them, can u pls help.
- Sometimes when restart the phone, it can't detect miniSD card. I have to unplug, then insert the card into the slot again.
- I can't configure the shortcut in multimedia key (the right button next to the key "3"😉. When I go to Configure and press to select another application, it goes back to startup screen.
- I can't connect to computer in mass storage mode, even when I switch the phone to Offline mode. It is said that memory card in use by another application.

Thx in advance.

I don't think so, because the problems occured since I used previous version (v.2.0628.0.0.1). I've upgraded to current version and the problems still remain.
Thx anyway.

Ok. So:
1. Try another card. Same happens to me, before use a Sandisk Ultra II card;
2. Shortcut button, should be firmware, no problem to me;
3. Any third application is running on background, like themes, or messages on card;

The 3rd problem is solved now, thx a lot. I'll buy another miniSD card to check problem 1. And problem 2 I still can't work it out.

Ok so here goes. I just bought an N73 standard along with a 1GB Mini SD card. now it syncs perfectly with nokia suite. the trouble begins when i try to sync it with Windows Media Player 11. I have this big playlist of like 106 songs and when i try to sync it with the N73 it syncs like the first 8 songs and than stops and after like 5 min says N73 disconnected. Please help. Details are

V 3.0638.0.0.1
RM-133

Seems that nobody's experiencing the 3GP problem I described above. Noticed that 3GP's are converted into 3G2's during mms download. Anybody knows what that means?

After the upgrade to v3.0705.1.0.31, my speed dialing has now stopped working. Cannot open the speed dial app and nothing happens when pressing & holding a speed dial button. It is activated in call settings.

It seems that the song skip button on the headset still not works in MusicPlayer. Works fine with radio & hands-free dialing. Firmware bug?

I kinda managed to fix it. Here's how i did it. I connected my N73 to my computer and chose connect as mass storage device than i went into WMP---Tools---Options---clicked on the devices tab and opened N73's properties. Unchecked the option to create folder Heirarchy and synced my playlist. I than disconnected and reconnected the phone and chose connect as media player device. i than synced my playlist to get the track list on my phone.

My pimped up regular Nokia N73 to Music Edition, has worked flawlessly since the update. I now have firmware v3.0649.0.0.31.

The trouble I am experiencing now happend over night long after the firmware upgrade, it's that the phone freezes and won't access the MP3 player, messages, internett browser etc. It just hangs in the menu, and also a call just froze too yesterday.

I have considered either hard resetting the phone (how?) or just upgrading the firmware to the newest version 3.0705.1.0.31 - MUSIC EDITION. But before that I would like to do a content copy backup, but this doesn't work either! It stops at 48% on the calender..

I have tried to remove my Topram 2GB miniSD card to see if this is the reason, and looks like some of the problems are fixed. But still can't do a content backup, so looks like something is still of. Maybe a virus? Any tips please..

There are two ways to back up your phone.. Via memory card (memory tools) and via PC (Nokia PC Suite).. My advice is to use them both..

Thry this reset code *#7370#

1. Does anyone know if the N73 will handle anything higher than a 2GB memory card with the new firmware?

2. I cannot log onto the IM service with Cingular and as far as I can tell the settings are all correct. Can someone please post the IM settings just to be sure? I have not found a site with correct combination of this particular phone and the IM settings for Cingular service.

Thank you.

1. No, the 2GB restriction is a hardware addressing restriction, therefore it is not possible for the N73 to recognise anything above 2GB.

2. Speak to Cingular.

I just got a N73 2 weeks ago. I have installed a couple of theme on my phone's memory. Anyone know how I can't delete these theme ? I know and have deleted theme store in my memory card. But I can't seem to locate the location of the theme in my phone's memory.

I have also tried using FExplorer & Xplorer to locate the location of the theme in my phone. But still can't locate them.

Anyone can help me here.........

hi everybody. this is my first post and hope u guys will solve the problem. i have a nokia n 73 music edit. the problem is similar to a problem i read in the forum. all of a sudden some themes disapeared from my handset. whenever i am trying to install the same themes or new ones it says not installed. can anyone help me out. thanks in advance.

actually i switched over from my sony ericsson k 790 to n 73 music last week. but am realy disappointed because of the problem i stated earlier. hope there are lot of techies out there who will help me out and will not make me repent of my decision to switch over to nokia from sony. waiting for ur help. thanks.

it's just and only idea, but i am not able to try it

method:

put MiniSD into Card Reader (external or internal), or connect via N73 with MassStorage option and try to format 4+ GB MiniSD using PartiionMagic as 2 or more (depends on MiniSD Card volume) 2GB primary partitions, i think N73 should see more (means 2 or more) volumes (signed as E:, F:, ...)

as i wrote is only idea and hope 🙄 too, but possible, just dont have bigger MiniSD to try it

respectfully

wow.. could someone pls try that?

I suppose you could try it in any size card to see if the N73 will recognise a partioned card as 2 cards. I have a spare 128 mb, I will try it if I can find my copy of partion magic

few days back I got a new N73 and when I'm playing a game, volume is freeze, cannot be lower or either higher

Hi All

I am experiencing the following problems with my N73 - standard not the Music edition.

1) when receiving a call, 9 times out of 10 the phone will just lock up, screen will go black and the phone will restart - it will then show the green phone icon in the top right hand corner.

2) when making a call the phone will just drop its call, but still showing as connected.

3) when opening up the gallery the screen freezes for a couple of seconds (about 4) then decides it wants to crash out.

4) sometimes it just point blank refuses to use my bluetooth headset (O2 Ice) but its still listed as a paired device. hang up, dial again and it works.

i've had the phone about a month

O2 have refused to replace the phone, they said that i have to sent it away for repair (and do without a phone or pay £30 for a loan phone - nokia 1100 !jokin arnt ya.

does anyone have any ideas on how i can fix it (firmware upgrade)

currently running ;
