Hello.

I'm new here.

My N73 is pretty good up till now.

Just recently, I encountered a problem.

I wasn't able to call a number (the dial button doesn't work) , wasn't able to switch on the loud speaker and caller unable to hear me.

All of this problem will be gone upon restarting the phone.

The problem persists again after 1-2 days. Then, I have to restart the phone again to use the phone.

Tried updating the phone ...but 'no new update available' msg popped up.

What can I do to solve the problem ASAP?

Hi,
Someone here has had her N73 for a week or so and is experiencing the exact same problem as posted earlier. I wanted to know if anyone out there had managed to solve it without flashing it to a generic version? I won't do it with my N80, so I'm not going to recommend it to someone else...
I've changed the network to just GSM to prolong her battery life from automatic as she doesn't use 3G, but it now keeps connecting to GPRS, and the voicemail indicator is permanently on, even though she has no new messages.
It's an Orange branded phone (same as the previous persons) version:
v3.0704.1.01
19-01-2007
RM-133

Many thanks in advance...

Hello,

Just upgraded my firmware from 2.06 something to Version 3.0705.1.0.31 using Nokia Suite. I then restored my phone backup from my memory card. All going well so far.

But now I have no pictures in my gallery, the memory card keeps being detected as not present and the operator has gone from Virgin to T-Mobile? Not great.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Richard

recently my n73 just keeps turning off all the time. if i turn it on.. put it in my pocket, then 30 seconds later it will turn off, even though it says its fully charged. and also when i turn it back on, the keypad is still locked. is this just a problem with the battery?

I believe your phone went into sleep mode. Is there a blue light flashing near the front camera bwxt to the Nokia logo? It ll come out of sleep mode if you press any of the buttons. You can also turn sleep mode off too.

I have been trying to use smart2go maploader. It keeps on prompting me that I have to have a "Map" application. What is this?

You need Maps (aka Smart2Go) installed on your mobile phone before using the MapLoader application to install the maps.

Hi, I bought my n73me 3 months ago. Now I am facing a serious issue.
when I open the back camera cover some times the camera wont start,
Some times the camera app may close unexpectedly.
I think the problem is with the battery cover which is a little loose. when i apply some force on the battery cover, camera closes. I dont know whether the two contact pins are causing problem

Any one experienced this problem ?, plz reply ?

Thankz

Same thing to me. Im not sure either, if it was firmware or back cover. When that happens it have from Nokia a new firmware. So I do the upgrade, but a same time, I clean well the metal contacts inside the phone and the plastic fixation between back cover and the phone case. After that it works well, without that kind of failure.

I made a thread about this. The problem came up when I upgraded to ME. Also, right after I install maps.

I tried reinstalling and cleaning contacts but have no luck there.

I'm running v3.0705.1.0.31 on my N73 ME and have spotted a couple of problems, one definitely firmware related but another may be to do with the phone's hardware.

Basically when the phone is in a handsfree Nokia car kit (eg the CK7W) the audio quality is much tinnier and quieter than other corresponding mobiles (notably a Nokia 6680 and 6380). When you play music through the phone it sounds fine, just callers sound a bit thin on bass etc.

The other problem I've noticed is when you dial a number and get a network/line busy tone, the phone sometimes momentarily locks up and doesn't allow you to press the end key until the tones time out from the networks side of things.

Hi richard, im with Virgin aswell and the last time i updated the firmware my Virgin went from that to T-mobile, thats what line Virgin use as they rent it out from them.

There is nothing you can do to get it back to Virgin, i called virgin up and said there was a problem with my phone and got it replaced lol
so iv now got a Virgin handset again altho im very reluctant to update the firmware version again.

Oh one other thing, i bet you cant go on the net when u updated yours lol
you have to get the settings sent back out to you from virgin.

i creeated a thread recently with the following problem but unfortunately, i didnt get any replies....

when i retrieve my emails on my vodafone n73, i set it so that it should only download the headers but for some reason, it downloads the whole email including any attachments. im not sure if this is a problem exclusive to the vodafone firmware (post your conspiracy theories here) or its a wide spread bug..

..please enlighten me with a solution or an explanation.

thanks in advance.

If the port is not the default, entering a number more than 3 digits would make the OK button disappear. Therefore, I can't enter a port number such as 8889, which is used for some email servers as the alternative port.

Yeah, I have the same problem too with my N73 ME!!

Hi all, newbie on first posting.

I've recently got myself hooked up with a google calendar and have added Papyrus to the 73.

When I sync it all goes fine and sends any modifications that i've made on the phone calendar to the calendar on google.

Here's the problem - if I make any modifications to the google calendar they do not export onto the phone when I sync them. 😡

Has anyone ant idea's on this ? I trawled through google's help screen but they were no good.

Thanks very much !

Hello all members,

i read many posts in this section, before asking, i know im not the only one with this issue.

When i close the camera phone software sometimes it freezes making the screen go blank and no function to work, iv waited long time but just turning it off worked. I wonder if this has been fixes for this, official or non official.

Another thing i was thinking on buying a MiniSD 4GB for this N73, do you gys know if it supports on with this capacity ?

Another last thingy, even with just GSM network solo enabled, the battery doesnt last long as i expected, maybe its me.

Thanks for the support

lovesign wrote:Ok, speaking as a fellow Orange UK user, it would appear that you are experiencing the problems many Orange users have with the Orange branded version of the N73.

I have the voicemail icon problem with my N73 and Orange but it's an unbranded phone, bought SIM free. I've so far had Orange send a SIM update, I've formatted the phone and done a firmware update but the icon is still there 🙄 . Frustrating but not terribly inconvenient.

However, the other problem I had was very inconvenient. I was away from home for 2 weeks and using the internet every day. All was going well, then suddenly, after about 9 days I could never stay connected for more than a minute or two. Pages (or emails) would start to download, stall, then eventually I'd get a message saying there was no network connection. This occurred whether I used the inbuilt browser, Opera or Opera mini. I called into an Orange store, they went through their standard sequence but nothing helped. Same with CS. Only thing that cured it was a firmware update (same version, it said there was nothing newer) when I got home. But that was rather too late 😡 Has anyone heard of this network problem before and more importantly any cure in case it happens again?
many thanks

Well i fixed the problem

i used this forum´s fantastic manual to change product code for a regular N73 without branding, made the NSU update, everything OK.

BTW: Do i loose warranty for changing product code?

Thanks

Did the flash upgraded to V4.0723.2.0.1 a few weeks ago now. So far my only gripes are:

(1) Line 2 functionality still not there, despite getting Orange to do the necessary. Grrrrr...

(2) When restoring from the memory card, several "ghost" email mailboxes were created which are apparently devoid of settings. They have the same names as the old mailboxes but I can't update or delete them as they do not appear to be recognised when using the email/mailbox settings menu. I can create new mailboxes but the "Ghost" ones take up space (there are now 6 of them)

(3) Whenever the phone is switched off, even if only for a few seconds, you are immediately p;rompted to re-set the date and time.

Any ideas folks?

Many thanks

Larry

i have noticed that the video quality has lowered in the latest version 4.0726.2.0.1 of N73..

can anyone confirm?

dont know wether you changed product codes but i had problems after changing to me firmware had no shortcut keys and couldnt access settings, worked out that it was because i had restord backup from mem card, copy anything you can to mem card but dont do it as a backup, you are goin to lose things but format phone then copy contacts and whatever else you managed to keep back your phone should work fine, think it was something to do with the different product code before and after backup and restore after firmware change. peace

hello can anyone help me pls...i have an n73 music edition but i only get 3g network when i try to put it on gsm network i don't have any signal i wouldn't be a big problem but at my house i don't have 3g coverege what should i do?? if anyone can help me i would be very greatfull...thanx

My nokia n73 loses ALL signal for several minutes at random intervals... very annoying.. I cannot seem to find a solution. Firmware is newest and everything. I will probably have to send it in...

any body help me

i am used n73 me. i would like to install some s60 v3 application and themes my n 73 me.

but some application and themes not installed my mobiles. the following message appear.

"ceritificate expired" and "certificate error and contact application supplier"

any body help me pls.

Just change the phone date, for a previous one, half an year, or so, and install again. After, put the date on today.

Since upgrading my N73 ME to v4.0727.2.2.1 I've now noticed the alarm clock doesn't work when the phone is turned off (ie it fails to switch the phone back on when it should). The alarm also appears to disappear from the set time when you turn the phone off and on again.

This has annoyed me somewhat as I use this feature nearly everyday. Assuming Nokia probably won't release another firmware update for the N73, how do I go about rolling the software back to v3.07? Can a service centre do this for me?

hi

im a newbie and i just bought my n73 music ed recently. i bought this phone for what i thought was it's superb camera, but some of the small issues really irks me. I can't get the shutter sound off (which isn't really such a big deal, i just don't want to disturb ppl around me), and i can't turn off the flash. (which really annoys me! i was taking a picture in an art gallery not allowing flash photography, with the flash set to 'off', imagine my embarrassment when the light came on!) even when i set the flash mode to off, the light still comes on. is there anyway i can rectify this or solve it thru software upgrade. using asian version.

I would like to note one, what I think is, bug in the 4.0727.2.2.1 version, for the ME N73.

After having problems with my one week old N73's microphone, and some Googling, I noted that many people have similar issues with the N73'mic, and adress that to the buggy firmware.

Well, I have to note that the problem exists in the latest firmware (4.0727.2.2.1) for the Music Edition too. People can barely hear my voice, with lots of static, cracking, and disconectiong. Restart of the phone fixes the problem. Since I have the phone for only one week, the problem has not repeated itself yet, and I hope it won't, but I though it is worth mentioning...

OK. I bought this phone to use it as a digital camera. After all, that is what is says on the box:

"The Nokia N73 multimedia device is a 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, mechanical shutter, and auto-focus, giving you vivid photo quality for prints up to 10" x 8"

Than, how come that my new N73 has images with file size <500kb, lower than my 1.3 megapixel 6630??
If I wanted a show-off phone with 3.2mpxl cam, I would have bought the N80, with it's Wi-Fi support, and better display. Instead, I got the N73, hoping that it would replace my digital camera, and account for one less device in my bag. Don't get me wrong, I have the Canon 400D, 10mp camera, and I use it too, but I got the N73 to serve the purpose of taking occasional snapshot where I need quick photo document.
Since the phone uses Carl Zeiss optics, mechanical shutter, and auto-focus, I am confident that the problem is not in the device itself, but in the software (firmware) controlling it, and with some tweaking and some more camera options, like compression quality of the image, the N73 can be one above average camera phone...

just wanted to vent a bit, waiting for the new firmware to come out...

cheers,
Nenad
