The DESKey whines can be ok'd and ignored.

Just download Diego 3.07 SP2, the firmware, Phoenix 2006 (part 1 and part 2), the fixes (Phoenix 2004 Fix and Phoenix 2006 Fix)
then follow the instructions at: http://www.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=1930290&postcount=1
but after step 1 run the Diego fix that's included in the Diego zip file..
When flashing with Phoenix if you select your phone type from the "Code" drop down, you will get the extra applications (I used Euro 1 Stainless Steel).
Cheers matey, i have everyone of those files but the first (Diego 3.07) cos it keeps saying the download session limit is reached! gutted 😞
got it 😃
bollock where do i install the diego crack to?
the manual is in spanish!
u dnt need the diago crack, not sure y its there
ok thats sorted that. now onto the next question!
why download 2 parts of pheonix? to me they are exactly the same?!
think ive royally fucked it 😃 havent started flashing my phone but cant get round the pheonix stuff cos i'm thick
seriously im that thick i didnt realise when u extract pheonix it puts the 2 parts together. gonna start again..
Is the v4 Firmware upgrade ok to use on a n80 on the 3 network?
Thanks
nope, ive completely fucked it. diego wont work and neither will pheonix. comes up with loads of errors. 😞
Hi Tazuk , im just checking when connecting my n80 to the p-c its not installing the usb drivers for it, so shall i install them from the cd that came with the phone, ? and in the instructions on page 1 of this forum it is saying uninstall the drivers 1st then when connecting via phoenix its not detecting the N80 !!!
So can i install the usb drivers fom cd ? if that will help .
Brian
If you're using the BB Reaper guide it contains the Connectivity drivers for the N80.
When I flashed mine I uninstalled all Nokia related software and drivers from my laptop, rebooted then followed the Reaper guide step by step through. If those drivers don't work then you could try substituting the connectivity drivers from the CD for those mentioned in the Reaper guide.

When your PC attempts to install the drivers, select custom install and change the path to C:\Program Files\nokia\Connectivity Cable Driver\
This worked for me

I had that problem when i flashed using the dogtoe instructions/software
I then reflashed using BB5 reaper and the later phoenix, which has a drop down to select the phone (Euro 1 smooth stainless) for me, it then selects the flash files automatically. The phone syncs once again. Think it must be something to do with the version of phoenix used.
Notice no option to switch to loudspeaker in the radio now though, anyone else?
hey guys im new to symbian,
well n e ways i am looking for the new v4 firmware but i need the 14 pack,
meaning Hong Kong, so the pack contains chinese language and english
n e body noe when will the Hong Kong site of Nokia b updating for the FOTA or does n e 1 noe where i can dl the firmware with the chinese langauage?
thx a lot
Successfully upgraded f/w to v4 last night.
I upgraded to V 3.0617.0.6 using the dogtoe instructions a while back and had subsequently taken all the s/w off my PC to install PC Suite. This time I used the BB5 reaper instructions, including using the registry cleaner, and all worked fine.
Points of note:
- lost all contacts/calendar/settings info off the phone (didn't last time)
- after flashing some previously installed apps tried to reinstall automatically, but failed, had to download again and install (on memory card as before) and they restored with all previous settings (incl. profimail)
- Got F-Secure (1 mo trial) fine
- Adobe, PTT and QuickOffice still there (came with last f/w upgrade)
- Search appears but I get an error when I try to open (Unable to execute file for security reasons) - any ideas ?
UPDATE: Reinstalled Mobile Search from the Nokia site and all works fine
Overall another smooth f/w upgrade without the hassle of a trip to a service centre
CAMERA? how is it now after the update? Is it any better? Video recorder sorted? the main problems i have are with the phones pictures and really want the video sorted.
Hi and thankyou for your help, im using NOKIA BB5 FIRMWARE FLASHING GUIDE Thats on page 1 of this forum, is that the correct one that has the nokia usb cable drivers etc, and because i have restarted my p-c so many times do i have to re-install phoenix as im gettings error messages when starting p-c etc, could this be the reason, and again many thanx from Brian.

I used this guide first time round, http://nokia.dogtoe.com/ then panicked that I hadn't done it right and flashed again using the BB5 Reaper. No difference in results between the 2 AFAIK. Printout and follow the dogtoe guide step by step and you should be fine.
According to posts from other members you can use the Cable drivers that came with the phone.
What errors are you getting from phoenix? DESKey errors can be safely ignored. AFAIK the main thing you must make sure of is that when you do the "Scan Product" stage in the guide your phone information is returned correctly by Phoenix. That indicates that Phoenix is reading the N80 correctly which is essential for correct flashing.

Hi, and thankyou, suprise suprise, havnt done yet as im re-installing Phoenix at the moment, am sure there was something wrong with the 1st instalment, god its taking ages and have broadband, anyway have you also lost your option to put the radio onto loudspaeaker, have to ask as there seems to be a couple of people who have lost this option, maybe they havnt put the headphone adaptor in, i hope that option still works and will let you no when im going to upgrade , should be tonite, want to do myself to save the 20 mile trip to nearest nssc ...Thanx again..
Brian
Nope the loudspeaker option is still showing on my radio menus, but only whilst the radio is on and the headphones plugged in..
When i go to download the software provided by the links on the step by step, most of them dont work :con? . Could someone please email me the progs/crack. so i can try flashing my phone?
cheers! 😊 ([email protected])

Emailing them will kill your email account (if they get through). The firmware alone is more than 100mb..
Best bet is to try the various links from the dogtoe guide, BB5 Reaper and / or given in this thread a couple of pages back. Some are bandwidth capped so may take a little time to get to but you'll get through eventually..
Also you might want to remove or obscure your email before the web spiders get it unless you like spam 😉
After trying for about a month to flash mine I finally suceeded tonight. I removed absolutely everything and followed BB5 reapers guide with the embedded cracks.
Nice to get rid of that Orange branding
Hi all,
I have upgraded to v4 on my N80 and all is well apart from a stuck voicemail symbol on the phone. I have no messages on the voicemail but the symbol is still there. Has anyone else got this?
I put my Orange sim into another phone and the same problem happens on that phone, so I guess it's more likely to be a problem at Orange's end (or on the sim), rather than the N80.
Any advice?
Cheers all

You need to run the firmware download executable to install the firmware files in the Phoenix program directory - then you will be able to locate and select them. It's the whacking big ~100MB exe..
HTH
also dont choose the files manually, choose EURO 1 pearl black/smooth stainless frpm the dropdown menu and it will do the rest for you 😊
Hi tazuk, thankyou for that, yes ive now chosen the smoothe/pearl black and now when i press start within phoenix, im getting the following message---
" In order to flash the PPM file successfully the version of the flash update package installed in the programme must be at least 06.02.002 ,unable to determin the flash update package version in the programmer version, do you want to continue? yes or no "
P-S My phoenix software is 2006.12.5.136 And that was the one i downloaded from BB5 Reaper etc...
Hope you can help and a little wary to press the continue button untill i get a response to this, amny thanx and hope to hear soon.
Brian
I got the same and pressed continue regardless, worked fine
