Hi guys, I am from Singapore, anyone from Singapore did the flashing yet? I am on the firmware;
V 3.0617.0.6
03-05-2006
RM - 92
Nokia N80 (11)
Reading the forum, some of the s/w you guys get after the upgrade, its in my N80 already, the kodak thingy, the catalogue thingy, cept for the anti virus tho.
So, is it worth the upgrade..? 😊

Nokia N80 (01)The last line used to read (33.01)?
The bluetooth headset problem (above) has gone, I had noticed that the volume always went to low, but had not linked it to speed dialing.
I have had a problem with poor signal strength compared to my 6230i, this seems better. I'm on o2.
Thanks for all your help
Thanxxxx, Mike
nope, still can't download BB5 Reaper off that site.
and its Keydogg not kev! 😃😃
Hi Keydogg,
I've managed to upgrade mine without BB5 Reaper.
Just download Diego 3.07 SP2, the firmware, Phoenix 2006 (part 1 and part 2), the fixes (Phoenix 2004 Fix and Phoenix 2006 Fix)
then follow the instructions at: http://www.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=1930290&postcount=1
but after step 1 run the Diego fix that's included in the Diego zip file..
When flashing with Phoenix if you select your phone type from the "Code" drop down, you will get the extra applications (I used Euro 1 Stainless Steel).
hey folks,
i don't think i have the bottle to try this myself so i will give it to the n.s.c., will everything be lost from the fone, eg installed applications, mms settings, 3rd party email settings etc...if so, if i were to backup the fone using the nokia data suite, would this mirror my current settings, apps etc, if i were to reinstal the backed up details after a fw upgrade??? :con?
cheers

I was able to restore everything after flashing the phone by doing the following:

Use Backup Phone memory in Tools\Memory Card to backup to memory card

Remove miniSD once backup completed

Once flashed restore Phone Memory from miniSD using Tools\Memory Card options
NB you can also copy this backup onto your home PC with the N80 in USB drive mode for extra safety. I deleted my backup in this mode once happy to regain the 30 or so MB it took up.
Note that I'm not sure how much info was actually wiped from the phone by the flash process as I didn't check. I noticed tasks were retained but calendar appointments weren't. I'd suggest making sure you are synced up to date with PC Suite before backing up to memory card just to CYA.

Im on Vodafone UK here.
Flashed fine using the firmware from the megaupload site at the beginning of this thread, and the bb5 Reaper 2006 software from this thread.
All working fine, includes both Adobe Reader and Anti-Virus 😃
Just got my N80 back from my local NSC and they've upgraded to V4 firmware. All the goodies seem to be there including, Adobe PDF reader, F Anti-Virus, Search, FOTA option in Device Manager, Media Player option in Data cable and a natty built in Settings Wizard, just set country and operator and the access point settings are magically generated.
So far I'm impressed! 😎 Hopefully, I'll be able to browse the web over w-lan without 'out of memory' errors or random shutdowns occurring.

I am haveing some trouble with phoenix. During the installation of Phoenix 2006, I received two pop-up messages notifying me that it has not passed some windows logo test or something.(that it would be risky to continue) That, I can just click -continue installation. However, the real problem I run into is at the end. When it starts to register the files and such, and when the DESkey not found message comes up. I am unable to click ok. I try to click ok.. and a few seconds later the whole installation freezes up. My computer is fine, but the installation crashes. and I must end the tastk. In the end, I am unable to install this. I'm not sure why and was wondering if anyone could offer some insight. Thanks.
try deleting the instalation and reboot pc and try again!

The Windows Driver certification messages should be safe to ignore.
I had the DESKey wobbly as well. I had to exercise a bit of restraint but eventually the installation came back to life and let me OK the DESKey message. Use Task Manager to make sure there aren't any more installation messages in the background that are freezing the installation. From memory I had 4 Driver Certification messages to Continue through during installation.
Are you using the latest version of Phoenix as per the BB5 Reaper guide?
Well, last night I was using an older(july) version of BB5 Reaper since I was unable to download the newest version. Now, I have the newst version and will try to follow the tips granted and try again. Thank you guys for your quick and helpful responce. =) I will reply when I get updated. Thanks again.
EDIT:
I have tried the same process and few more times. I am still unable to successfully install it. I end up with 2 Non-responsive DESkey errors. They just freeze up..
Flashed but still cant find new apps? No adobe or virus scan, I do have media player though? Anyone now why I dont or where they are hiding?
Regards

Brian

How many numbers do you have? I'm planning on taking my phone to carphonewarehouse to update, and my backup file's only 1.6 mb. 😮
Updated
V4.0623.0.41
Why do I seem to struggle with this,
Tried the original method on dogtoe, could never get it to connect to teh phone properly(serial number not available?)
Tried using the 2006 crack method, starting Phoenix throws a load of errors about unregistered components and I don't get any menus.
Downloaded BB5 Reaper and the links to the Nokia Dongle crack and teh other one(both bottom links) don't work as they seem to be pointing to my local filesystem.
My 'local' NSC is over 20 miles away. All I want is to have a stable connection to my BT GPS unit!
Anyone help?
if you dont get any menus, use the 2004 dongle crack, then the 2006 cracked files, all should be ok then

Not that many really, 'bout 200 or so. Lots of calendar appointments though, plenty of custom sounds and ringtones, and all my apps are installed on phone memory as my miniSD's chock full of MP3s.

Your not the only one, Ive experienced the same problem after Ive had the firmware upgraded from a Nokia Service Centre. Ive attempted to re-install PC Suite but the error still occurs. I have however noticed a new selection when you connect the USB cable and thats Media player mode. :con?
Nokia Service Centre (UK) Details of firmware upgrade results:
V 4.0623.0.41

I can also confirm that the Bluetooth problem has been fixed as GPS receiver no longer drops a signal when connected. :icon14:

I had the same problem with the phoenix. I kept getting loads of errors and it wouldnt load properly but i forgot the add the DLL file which was with the 2006 crack.
Since adding that everything has been fine.

I dont know if this would help anyone..
But I've provided a link to the Nokia web page that shows the nearest Nokia Service Centre when you enter your postcode.
http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,,77483,00.html
I'd give them a call so to ensure that the store still exists and that they are capable of upgrading the firmware on the N80 to V4.
