To be honest though all of the software is available from Nokia anyway, and the version of Mobile Search that installs is out of date, there is a later version avialable
Aha! My mystery's solved then...so I'm good - cheers Ratkat!

Yes uninstall PC suite and all nokia drivers before installing phoenix
when i try to download bb5 reaper it just gives me a setup.exe which is 0.0kb, has anyone got another link? 😞
Hi Kev,
I just got it from rapidshare.de - google search for bb5 reaper 2006
Have not tried setting it up yet, going to do the flash on a machine thats never had pc suite installed on it before so should be clear of drivers.
yea, rapidshare doesnt like me, i think its something to do with me using BT as an ISP, so i cant dl anything off there. anyone care to host it?
Do you have to backup the phone memory before you flash ?
Because i'm having some troubles with getting it to backup, when I go the memory card app and select backup to memory card it get to pretty much all the way over the progress bar then kicks up the old memory full error. Have closed all apps and removed any unnecessary files from the phone memory and it still does it.
Anyone have any ideas ?
Its a "3" N80.
Mike Wilson wrote:Well i finaly bit the bullet and successfully flashed to v4. using my CA-53 cable Phoenix complained that that it could not establish the version of (Flash update package), but I just clicked continue. Now reads
V 4.0623.0.41
26-07-2006
RM-92
Nokia N80 (01)
The last line used to read (33.01)?
The bluetooth headset problem (above) has gone, I had noticed that the volume always went to low, but had not linked it to speed dialing.
I have had a problem with poor signal strength compared to my 6230i, this seems better. I'm on o2.
Thanks for all your help
33 is O2 UK customisation, 01 is generic Euro 1
Hi guys,
I'm having some problems and would appreciate any information anyone may have.
I've ussed the bb5 reaper and tried to update firmware but i get an error message at 1% saying 'Changing phones operation mode failed' - any ideas?
The only problems i encountered during install was i got another error message after DESKET error although can't remember what it said. Also i noticed there's a crack file in the diego folder - should i have installed this crack? has everyone else used this crack in the install?
current firmware:
v 3.0614.0.3
11-04-2006
RM-92
Nokia N80 (58.01)
Regards
When I connect the usb cable now, I have an option for "Media Player" mode, but it requires drivers.
Does anybody know what this mode does, exactly? And where to get the drivers?
Cheers.
Hi guys,
Ignore my post above, i had to put my sim in the phone and set it to normal instead of offline mode to get it to flash. Flash went ok, now have:
v4.0623.0.41
26-07-2006
RM-92
Nokia N80 (01)
Thanks to everyone that's assisted me. Hopefully this firmware will improve a few things
Regards

am i the only one who cant download Reaper? i really flash my phone but i need the reaper software and downloading it off that site wont work! nor will it from rapidshare!
Help! 😞
well i followed the instructions in bb5 reaper and i have succesfully flashed my phone to the new hardware, once you get through all the messing about to get it installed its very easy to do
hi kev, same problem here and I'm on BT.
0KB setup file and rapdi share doesn't work either... can anyone upload this somewhere else?
Is everyone pretty sure all these software are clean of spyware -- Diego, Phoenix, BB5 Reaper (oops, I already installed that)?
Thx.

After flashing with dogtoe I found I was having problems with PC Suite.
Re-flashed using BB5 Reaper, far better. Phoenix 2006 now works all the time, even after reboot. Only problem I had was that when I connected the phone to the usb Windows could not find the drivers.
I then installed PC Suite, uninstalled the connectivity cable drivers, and installed the ones that came with bb5 reaper. Stopped pc suite. Restarted phoenix connected the phone and the drivers installed.
Selected Euro 1 smooth stainless, and no problems. during the flash, new hardware detected popped up but the drivers installed automatically, and the flash carried on. Search, antivirus (1year sub) and Adobe pdf reader all present. The Browser seems a lot faster using wlan.
One problem I have noticed is that there is now no option to switch to loudspeaker in the Radio app. Anyone else noticed this.
im really struggling to download reaper ...
0kb setup.exe from the site and when I search google I cant find anything :con?
even if it was on rapidshare,i can never download anything from there anyway.
anyone got any ideas ?
Thanks
Well I cant work out where I'm going wrong, I can get the installation right upto phoenix 2006, then phoenix asks to reboot then complains about no dongle being available - however I patched it earlier on during the 2004 installation.
Nothing going right today 😞

Did you really get a 1yr Free Subscription from Nokia with the Virus Scanner?
When I ran the Virus-Scanner icon after Flashing, it downloaded the sis file and installed the app into the Phone and then only offered me the choice of Evaluation Mode or Subscription Purchase?

2. Dont need BB5 Reaper
Thanks loads

ok the new bb5 reaper is here http://isoftware.1500mb.com/ just click on the link under the pics, enjoy
thanks mate I got all the files.
I also had the exe of the firmware, but just unpacked it first as i was worried it might patch pheonix back to needing the dongle or something.
now i know I'm going to have to do it tomorrow, because being the N80, my battery has gone flat !!!!
All ready to do it now, bit worried about voiding my warranty, but hey live life on the edge 😉

V01 or V02 are both UK/Euro generic, V08 has english lanquage but is not a UK generic firmware (will still work fine though)
If you use the latest version on phoenix, on the screen where you choose your firmware, use the dropdown menu to choose a phone type and it will automatically choose the correct file, I choose Euro 1 Pearl Black or something like that.
I managed to flash my n80
the old version I had
V 3.0617.0.6
03-05-2006
RM-92
Nokia N80 (31.01)
and the now its
V 4.0623.0.41
26-07-2006
RM-92
Nokia N80 (01)
changes I've seen a Kodak application at images folder
have anti-virus
new settings wizard with many email providers to choose from incl hotmail gmail yahoo aol... (only gmail worked) yahoo hotmail didn't get connected.
got search application too, i have to manually enter the wep key from easy WLAN, the the home wifi connection that I saved does not work.
also have adobe pdf
one more thing
when i connect the usb cable now have an extra option- media player, but when i choose that the pc recognize as new found device and have no drivers for it. also have error msg memory card is used by other applications.
thanks everyone for posting the links for the update
by the way does anyone know if the firmware i have got mentioned above is generic version or orange version,? thanks

i got this also, when i rebooted it asks for dongle, i clicked cancel then ran the 2004 crack again, overwrite all, then use the 2006 cracked files and it was fine 😊 flashed my phone (3rd time in 2 days with this version) finally got the extra software, i was choosing the files manually instead of using the drop down box, btw i chose EURO 1 Smooth stainless 😊

perhaps this is going to sound selfish of me but i am glad its not a Free 12 month sub - cos I paid 24.95 yesterday for a 1 year sub
1 month trial isn't too bad and after the trial expires i can confirm that Virus Scanner still works, you just cant get updates without a subscription..
one point though, your IMEI number is stored on the company's server so that if you try to uninstall then reinstall, you cant get another free month trial.
