If it were me and I had the patch working I would have offered it to the biggest doubter here (probably bartmanekul).

The fact thet nobody has even mentioned they have been offered a trial would lead me to believe it's a wind up.

Might be time to take the blinkers off Xdaman, wake up and smell the coffee......and remove the large fish hook from your mouth.

No offence mate.....but I think you're being played like a violin.

All I know is they have invited me down to check it out installed on the N95 in their office.

I told them that

a) I havent got the time and its too far and

b) Even if I were to see it installed and working no one here would believe me as I'm new to symbian forums.

Now think about it. I could have been 1 mile from them or 500 miles. Didn't tell them cos they never asked. It was only after they offered that I said I lived miles away.

I've got a bit more faith in them because I am a software developer albeit a Windows Mobile one. They don't seem bothered one jot to me other than the frantic responses they have been getting here and through their inbox.

Let me tell you what I think they are going to do here.

They are going to supply the patch to a few prominent people on the web and I think they are going to pull it from the public domain.

I say this because there are people on here who have sent me pm's and they think like me.I honestly think GPSM are now thinking its more trouble than its worth Told you what I'd do, get on ebay and make a killing !!!

My guess someone has it here and is trying to CRACK it before they let on

bartmanekul wrote:Well, they had better make themselves known otherwise its an utterly pointless exercise.

If GPSM are offering this, then they plainly are reading, and bothered about what goes on here.

Xdaman, did they say how it was offered?

I.e. was it someone who contacted them, or did they contact someone, presumably a major doubter on this thread (me or Dez), or a forum admin or some such?

If you are in contact with them, can you find out who it was?

If it is a time limited demo, and it expires, they could simply send it to anyone they want without them having to go there.

And if it is limited in that way, theres no putting it on ebay.

I think Rafe would be the best, as if it was me I could just be a really clever plant 😃

They just said it had been offered to an 'established' member of the forum. Didnt say they couldnt distribute it just said it was a 5 day trial.

How do you find out who it is ?

You guys need to send pm's to the major players but I've told you what I think.

Someone has it and is trying to amend the data to unlock it.

Come on guys this has to be the most valuable patch on the market.

Think of all the back street mobile phone shops. No doubt be supplying the 'under the counter' unlicensed tomtom and you can really ask what you want cant you ?

Lies, damn lies, and statistics.

Someone can "tell" you a lot of things, but you're a damn moron if you believe GPScraplands outright without being able to install and test it yourself on your own N95.

I'll believe it when it's running on my N95. Until then it's all bollocks.

And just to fuel the bad press they'll get from a Google of "GPSmidlands", I also posted something about this "patch" over on the HoFo.

Wow. Within a few minutes of posting that thread it was deleted. WTF?

Screw it, created another thread over there.

OMFG, so the story now is they have given it to someone and they are keeping quiet trying to 'hack' this so they can sell it??

How much longer can you go on beleiving this crap? If this is the case then why dont GPSM tell you/us who it is?

The onus is not on us to find out who it is. Its like me saying Ive hacked navigon, and can distrubute it for free. But Im not going to, nor am I going to give you any proof.

This is just getting all the more laughable by the day. I cant beleive some people still beleive them.

Someone has it and is trying to amend the data to unlock it.

Riiight. And you have some proof that GPSM has even given it to someone then, let alone that this person is doing that? And of course, you can find where this said mythical person is selling it too?

Seriously xdaman, ask yourself: why would they say its an 'established member' rather than who it was? What possible reason have they not to name the person?

I find it amusing that even if it were true and they had the patch, its been such a massive cockup it defies belief. Tbh they would get more respect from me now if they just came clean. To keep lying and submitting excuse after excuse is just making the hole deeper.

Oh and BTW, did they happen to give you an address when they asked you to come and have a look? They dont have a real address on the website (just a PO BOX), so how youd find it I dont know.

Its interesting that when someone wants to beleive something, they make up all sorts of things to keep it going. For example, Im assuming GPSM didnt say anything about the person who has it trying to unlock it. That was simply something you invented with no basis of truth at all. Same with many things you post.

Other people like to look at both sides. Now, for everything Ive said against GPSM, there is an excuse. Poor ones mind, but some nonetheless.

First one was me rigning them up and it never being answered, bear in mind this is 3 times I rang, 4 if you include the first time I rang them and couldnt get through, and they rang me back. Ok, so they could have been extraordinarily busy all the times I rang, and I was first in the queue each time.

As for the phone number being a 10p per min one....well, ok. Maybe they just havent got a clue what they are doing, and instead of making money on it, they went with an expensive provider for no reason (other than stupidity - the number is not memorable, and theres much cheaper ones out there).

As for the constant timelines being surpassed....they could just be having trouble, but wait. They havent said they are. The 2 most recent holdups are awaiting approval from their corperate clients and now its awaiting something nokia. This one I cannot understand, why did they tell a number of people (including me) it would be ready in a few days if they hadnt even submitted it to either of these? Stupidity again?

Why havent they used peoples ideas of verifying it to everyone? Many of Dez and I's ideas were perfectly feasible, and of no loss and minimal hassle to them. This I cant think of any reason for either.

Im afraid theres only 2 answers to this. Either they have done a patch and have been as stupid about it as possible, or its a lie that snowballed way out of control.

By the way, I do hope your doing all this by email, as everytime you ring them your likely to be giving them money per minute.

Personally, Id like to know where those 2 other numbers redirect you to.

Basically, they are often redirect numbers, which your not allowed to collect revenue on. Of course, that doesnt mean some people dont do it. So you have to wonder if that simply redirects to the sales line....

Look I'm not getting into this again.

Like I said some of you guys have got a big hangup with this business.

I wasn't told contribute to this thread and to be honest If I were GPSM I would say screw you lot, speak to Tomtom

I know what I've been told.

I happen to believe it.

Quite frankly if they got TomTom to confirm the existence of the patch you will still have a problem with it.

I think its there you guys dont.

I will still persist with them because they are the only solution.

Don't see anyone else coming forward.

I will not be subscribing to this thread any further.

Good luck

Rofl, some points come across you dont have an answer to, and your off? Bye then.

I will still persist with them because they are the only solution.

And therein lies many peoples weakness. They want it so much they are willing to beleive anything, no matter how much the evidence says otherwise.

Quite frankly if they got TomTom to confirm the existence of the patch you will still have a problem with it.

You just dont get it do you? We havent seen any evidence whatsoever of it existing. The moment I see evidence from a decent source - be it tomtom, a mod on this forum, Dez, a news site - I'll beleive.

Close the door on your way out. 😊

Edit: In fact, I maybe infoming OFCOM about that odd phone system they have there. If I was a cynical man, Id say that webby is simply a setup to catch many search terms (GPS, many different sort of PDAs, Xbox repairs, PS2 repairs etc) and gain revenue from the phones. Simply looking at the pages shows they are there for catching google searches on stuff.

Why would a legit, succesful business have all these expensive to ring phone lines?

More investigation needed methinks....

But why are you even ringing them up? all along they've stated that updates will be made on their webpage. If impatience is getting the better of you how can that be their fault?

Does it say, or has it ever said... TT6 patch - call us for further details?

No, when I rang it didnt say 'please dont contact about the patch' stuff.

I emailed, and this didnt get a response. I rang them, and it didnt get answered, and eventually someone called me back, and assured me it was going to be ready soon. And to ring back on Tuesday. I had a conversation with the guy, and beleived him, which is why I defended them for a while. I gave them an extra day, since it didnt say it was ready on the website, and rang on Wednesday.

There was no answer the 3 times I rang, each time I was stuck in that stupid queue telling me I was the first person in line.

I didnt get a ring back.

That was a while ago, its back in this thread if you want to look.

I wasn't told to contribute to this thread and to be honest If I were GPSM I would say screw you lot, speak to Tomtom.

Ny only involvement is being a developer I sort of know where they were coming from.

Lies, Lies, Lies....what the hell is this ?

I will let Mr 'Oddball' into a little secret.

The reason all companies lie with new products is they don't want someone else stealing their thunder and potentially huge sales.

This is endemic in the mobille phone industry and the new E90 is typical of this. Sony Ericsson have beaten them to the punch with the new P1i as this is on general release at o2 whilst the E90 is appearing in dribs and drabs and is only really available on Ebay.

They all do it fellas and whats more they know they do it. They know full well the phone isnt going to be released for months yet will issue crap delivery dates so people who might be thinking of buying an alternative product will not go elsewhere.

GPSM are not even selling the patch so like I say bit of a dead one that.

I know what I've been told.

I happen to believe it.

I gotta admit, your comparisions make me laugh, almost out loud.

Like I said some of you guys have got a big hangup with this business.

Your damn right, same as anything when Ive been lied to.

to be honest If I were GPSM I would say screw you lot, speak to Tomtom.

Yeah, smart move that. Them being extremely petty and not letting many people have it because a few people on one forum said they have serious doubts about the patch. And you cannot defend their phone system in any way.

Ny only involvement is being a developer I sort of know where they were coming from.

I can truthfully say, if you have actually read all my points and simply refuse to beleive them your a bloody bad one. You cannot tell me its good practice to tell people its going to be ready the next day when they havent even submitted it to two groups (their corperate clients and nokia) for approval. This among other things.

Lies, Lies, Lies....what the hell is this

What they have been telling. Refer back in the thread to see various accounts of them telling people it will be ready on such and such day.

I will let Mr 'Oddball' into a little secret.

Due to all the insults etc, I now think your not very old, and not even of working age.

The reason all companies lie with new products is they don't want someone else stealing their thunder and potentially huge sales....blah blah O2....blah...E90....Blah blah...sony...etc

GPSM are not even selling the patch so like I say bit of a dead one that.

Eh? So wtf was the point in going on about O2 etc? :con?

I know what I've been told.

So do we, assuming youve told us all of it.

I happen to believe it.

Good for you. Some dont.

Quite frankly if they got TomTom to confirm the existence of the patch you will still have a problem with it.

See my earlier reply.

Don't see anyone else coming forward.

Err, so? Thats proof its real then?

I will not be subscribing to this thread any further.

Promises promises, you said that earlier. Sure your not from GPSM? 😉

Now, if your wondering why you keep getting pwned on this thread, and cant answer my questions - the most recent being why didnt they simply say who they submitted it too - its because theres a vast gulf in the evidence for your argument.

Oh cant resist this one.

I wasnt talking to you I was referring to the earlier comment.

Thought you were going to refrain from the personal insults.

You're entitled to your opinions mate.

I really suggest though you stop being so cynical.

It will screw the rest of your life up.

Dont know but I can tell you cant be easy to live with, divorced maybe. Then again you probably havent even been married.

Come on lets see you take this post apart.

I've had quite a few pm's from other members who have told me not to even reply to you.

Problems before maybe ?

You must have a load of time on your hands.

Did I say living on your own hmmmm !!

i came on here to read about the update on the nokia n95 patch for tomtom but this little spat between bartmanekul & Xdaman makes better viewing than big brother! i`m hooked!

Thought you were going to refrain from the personal insults

Errm...I have?

You're entitled to your opinions mate.

As are you. I will point out its a forum, and this topic is about an alleged patch for tomtom on the symbian system which makes use of the internal GPS reciever on the N95. You think it exists, I dont. Thus Im debating (using evidence) that its not true).

I really suggest though you stop being so cynical.

Oh really? Well considering all the evidence here, Ive got every right to be cynical, in fact youd be mad not to be. I will remind you once again, that initially I defended them dispite my misgivings, which is more than some did.

Dont know but I can tell you cant be easy to live with, divorced maybe. Then again you probably havent even been married.

Its exactly things like that which lead me to beleive your not that old. Its an observation, not an insult. What on earth do you expect when you throw childish insults and try to judge peoples lives from what people say on a forum?

Come on lets see you take this post apart.

Im on it.

I've had quite a few pm's from other members who have told me not to even reply to you.

Then what are you doing? Besides of which, Ive had PMs backing me up, but I have never mentioned it because I thought it was bloody obvious some people believe, some dont. Im not trying to make out Ive got some sort of fan club following me.

Problems before maybe ?

With? :con?

You must have a load of time on your hands.

Sort of. While Im processing jobs I can have time waiting for them to do, especially if theres nothing else to do. Course, it seems you do too. I assume your taking time out from developing.

Did I say living on your own hmmmm !!

I do indeed! (If you dont count two cats). My girlfriend however has her own place, and we like our own space so it works well. Thanks for the concern though.

In all seriousness, Ive put across lots of points as to why I dont trust GPSM. If you want to have a debate and argue against that, the first thing youve got to do if you want to be taken seriously is address those points.

If your in contact with GPSM as you claim, can you simply not ask them who they sent it to? Dont you see how much easier that would be instead of all this speculation?

every time i read your post it makes me wonder more and more that you really do work for GPSM because so far you defended them and not said a word has to how they have broken promises on many times over.

PUBLIC OFFER TO GPS MIDLANDS

I can't get to Birmingham from SE Scotland, but I would be willing to accept a restricted trial of the patch on my N95. (e.g. Patch only works for 48 hours)

I will sign a legally binding contract not to hack or redistrubute the patch.

I will confirm publicly in this forum if the patch exists and works.

Attention GPSM - PM me if you want to take me up on this offer.

Yeah right.

I wish I did work for them because I would just tell them to ditch it and save all the crap.

Here's a promise for you, You will NEVER in a million years will have the brains to compile such a solution.

How about that.

I'm fairly safe in the knowledge that's a promise which will never be broken

There you go.

Youve just convinced a shitload more people on this forum your affiliated with GPS midlands.

The legal bit is for their benefit - i.e. if he did distribute it, he could be sued for a large amount of money.

I think youve lost any sort of influance you had on this forum, because what you said makes absoloutly no sense whatsoever.

LOSER !!!

And if your older than 15, Benny Hill will make more programs.

What a tool - You CLAIM to be a developer (I dont, before you go off on one about my ability) yet fail to grasp the ethos of contracts etc.

Any credibility you may have had was lost with that post!

i only gave my opion no need to get personal as i am not looking for fight because i would not want to drop down to your standred.
also i never said i could come up with the patch but never made any bold promises either.
just a word of advice i think you are becoming joker of this forum so carefull because you are not all that bright as you make out to be.

Funny this.. how this is such a sensitive topic though with so many people prepared to put their proverbials on the chopping block to vouch whether or not a patch does exist..

Personally I think it doesnt exist- even though I do believe it can be done as per my other posts..

I am interested in seeing who in this board really are GPSMidland spies though.. 😊 Maybe the mods can check the IP addresses of the posts and do reverse lookups to see if they came in from same provider as GPSMidland?

The biggest clue is Xdaman's name......(unusual name for a Nokia N95 forum isn't it ?).........and what's posted all over GPSMidland's front page.

Seems they do a lot of XDA repairs and refurbishing.

hmmmmm.......lol !!!
😉

Another brainless comment.

Why dont you guys talk to Gpsmidlands.

You might just might get somewhere.

Well I thought that, but..umm...without trying to sound to insulting (but obviously failing) he seems to thick to be. I cant see as hes a developer with an attitude and common sense like that, more like a kid thats learnt a bit of code and thus calls himself things.

But if hes not affiliated with GPSM, I cant figure out why hes defended them so much :con?

My guess is he really wants to beleive that patch exists, and as hes been so nice they will give him a copy.

Why dont you guys talk to Gpsmidlands.

Did you miss many of the posts in here where people have rang them up and got responses like 'its going to be released tomorrow' when it wasnt?

Email isnt an option for me, as they ignored my first one I cant see as they would bother replying to anymore.

And sure as hell Im not ringing them for that price per min. All everyone has every got is bunkum from them, and paying for the privalage.

Fair play though, Id have thought you would have not bothered coming back after your previous comment about contracts. The stupidity of that was...astounding.

Since you beleive them so much, and seem keen to clear them (dispite what you say), why dont you ring them and find out why they wont send a restricted copy to someone? And lets have a username at least please.

Thats the point....talking to them is impossible.
If you can get through you just get another fake release date or excuse.

And you couldn't be any more of a plant if you were green and leafy !!!

Personally I dont care if or when they ever release it. TomTom will do it themselves eventually anyway.

Xdaman wrote:Bull****

I have worked in the IT Industry for 23 years now... but have no Symbian experience. Why develop the skills to write a patch that GPSM says exists?

If you had not registred on AAS a few weeks after this thread started I might actually consider you to be trult impartial. Why don't YOU write a patch?

barmanekul.....a while back you asked about GPS midlands 07074 telephone numbers

I found this

Q) 07074 Personal Numbers

Answer: 07074 is specially designed to be used with mobiles, but it can be arranged to be put on a landline if necessary. 07074 is a mobile number for life. Connection: a one off fee of £99 plus VAT. There are no call charges to the number holder (Caller pays 33p@peak, 25p@off-peak and weekends).

Seems like the 10p per minute line is their CHEAPEST !!!!
😮

Yep! But what I dont know is that if it diverts back to their sales line.

In which case, it would be costing the punter even more money, yet giving GPSM revenue. Which is against OFCOM rules.

Now, how exactly can someone explain having phone lines like that for a company like that?

I imagine Xdakid wont have much to say about that.

Now, how exactly can someone explain having phone lines like that for a company like that?

Or having a PO box as their address........
