Hello, I got the N95 in the UK on its launch day, and coming from a very old 6230 (not the 'i' with 1.3MP) i have actually found some loss in conveniances moving from old nokia software to symbian.

Firstly, a bit of a frustration currently is the lack of ability to 'Insert Number' into an sms. For instance, the good old 6230 had options for: insert; contact, number, template, picture, smiley, word, symbol.

Some of these have been taken care of, but i honestly cant see why nokia has put an 'insert' menu item in options, and filled it with only one thing; template. How silly, it seems like who-ever was meant to fill the dropdown went to lunch and forgot about it, otherwise why wouldnt you save a step and just have 'insert template' in the main options...
its basic schoolboy rules of programming not to have a sublist contain only one item, it adds an un-needed step

anyway, i guess its something that cant be solved at present by anyone but nokia, but how do you guys currently do it; just inserting a number while in the middle of writing a text?

Also, how can i make my inbox display [first name] [last name] instead of vice versa? My contacts are arranged [first name] [last name].. the rest of the phone should follow suite.

Finally, is there anything which can be change in contacts to make typing a letter only search the first letter of the contacts (and since ive chosen [first] [last] i know im after peoples first letter of first names), its highly frustrating that it simply locates every contact containing that letter

When I hear a song from 'Music player' in loud speaker and if I get a call,my N95 turns 'silent' after the end of the call,-------------Music player is running but no sound,no ringing even if a new call comes ?! But if I restart the phone everything becomes normal.

But if repeat the sequence, same 'silent' mode, corrected by 'restart'.

Fortunately, this does not happen if I attach 'handsfree'--a song playing interrupted by a call-----song resumes at the end of call.

Only in 'Loud speaker' mode the problem of 'silent' persists. But,fortunately getting normalized after 'reboot'.

Is it a common problem? is there any way to correct it.I even verified that there is no other running apps,no wifi,no gps, display brtness minimum.

Kindly help me for a remedy,Thanx in advance.

Hi Rafe,

When I take videos using n95, i noticed there's a red light beaming from the flash LED. It can be pretty annoying especially when shooting people at night time. Do you know if this red light can be removed?

Thanks.

Regards, Ryu.

seki,

I am not sure where I got that info because I did not note down the link but I got 2 separate sources saying that there is such a folder and deleting the "Phone" folder and restarting the phone will remove the operator logo. However, I cannot confirm that this instruction is for some specific N-series phone or not. I am also not sure with the new Symbian OS version (not sure if I have said it rigtht) for N95, does this apply still.

Granted that this might be risky, I would still like to know how to remove the operator logo for N95 with the new Symbian OS version.

Can anyone please help me?

Thanks a whole lot!!

What happens when you launch "Camera" application from menu in landscape mode, when the 5MP shutter is closed? Could you please make a screeshot of such situation please?
Thanks

The secondary camera activates - it doesn't fill the screen - it is in portrait mode.
This is with the latest firmware. 😊

Hi all.

1) Does anyone face the problem of your N95 sending empty SMSes to people when you have left the keypad locked and phone in your pocket.

Recently, one of my friends got like 13 or so empty SMSes from me and I did not even send any!!

This seems weird.

2) Also, how do one check if one has the latest firmware on the phone?

3) What is the latest formware version by the way?

Thank y'all!

Kim

Yesterday i bought the n95 in bangkok Thailand (I live there). Their leaflet 'key applications & technologies for the n95' says i can get a free (yes free!!) city map by clicking on the Asia Maps icon. However i can't find the icon - it's not there! - do i need to install the program & if so - how???
All ideas welcomed.....

hi can anyone tell me if I changed the product code to say VIETNAMESE then flashed the latest vietnamese FIRMWARE then would my n95 have vietnamese language? or would i need to install language pack?

Yes .. if you change the product code to Vietnam .. and run the updater you will get that product code's firmware - with its related language packs. This according to a user from HongKong. Check the Product Code "Sticky"😊

:con? I know, its a stupid question but its my first NOKIA..... Can u light up the screen without unbloking the keyboar to see the clock??? :icon4: (so the blue line where appeares the time, date,.., can light up in the back so i can see the clock..)🙄

demo in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uN9eRlddfH0

then do a firmware upgrade and you should have Spanish as a selectable language option.

Good luck!

Hi rafe,

I was using pocket PC for the last 5 years and finally i made the swith to the Nokia N95...I have to admit that i am not very familiar with it very much.

I get stuck on the following:

I go to phtobucket and i manage to copy the the url or the image link and then when i go back to a forum and try to paste it and i never see the paste button or to paste the link.

I am sure there is a way around it...

thanks heaps

I was wondering if anyone could post the settings they most often use while taking pictures? I have tried every mode in every condition and tried every user-defined option i could find and almost all of my pictures come out extremely blurry. The only pictures that come out alright are of non moving objects in very good light with nothing else in frame. I think the auto focus is malfunctioning.

so do one of those hard resets - * Green 3 keys while powering on
- next try updating the firmware. It really improves performance!
FYI
I use the default settings with mine and it takes pretty nice images - even at night. I tried doing the manual settings thing .. but found I stuffed them up more often than not .. so I put it back to Auto ..
I noticed if you take a badly focussed shot (according to the phone) the frame will display a red but if its been able to do some decent focussing (again according to the phone) it will display a Green frame. But with the new firmware even those alegedly out of focus shots aren't too bad. I downloaded PhotoRite mostly to fix the lighting issues - its very good!

Good luck with yours! 😊

In my Symbian Phone (7610), in any app, while I hold the pencil key one of the functions keys displays the COPY and/or PASTE command.

Hope this can help.
Datherra.

Hi, got my N95 yesterday finding it very good but just a couple of problems im having if you can help out.

When at home I am using my wireless router for the internet on my N95, problem is everytime I use it my N95 keeps asking me to enter my wireless key, I find this very annoying how can I stop this?

Also when I am using maps do I pay every time I plan a route?

Thanks Scott

Remove the protection from your Wi-Fi,when you are at home.
The maps, only voice guide is a pay service.

I have had a problem with the WiFi link to my home wireless router (Netgear DG834PN) since I first got my N95 more than a month ago. My router is set up with WPA/PSK access which works fine for 2 laptops and a HP PDA. If I use WiFi to browse on the internet the first couple of pages work fine then the whole thing slows down and fails to load the page. When this has happened the 'phone will not automatically disconnect from the router and the only waty to resolve is to turn it off and on again. I thought I had solved the problem following earlier exchanges but it is still there. I have just updated the firmware yesterday but no change to this problem (I deliberately deleted all of the setup in this new installation to see if there was some bug in my initial setup). The USB link to PC and PC suite connections are fine. All other functions on the 'phone seem to work within expected limits.

Does anyone else have such a problem? Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks

Thanks, sorry if im going a little of the point but how can i remove the protection from my Voyager 2110?

Thanks

I can't see why you would choose this method..., not a very neat proposal (and to make it even more easy for anybody to access your computer you can remove your password as well while your at it..?!?!) uuurkk :icon13:

Why don't you instead create an access point on your N95 and store the wep-key once and for all in that access point?
