But this isnt the same.
Presumably, map updates are not free, and theres no word yet on if updates are free.
Im guessing its going to follow the traditional model of free updates but you have to pay for new versions. Im going on the basis that since Sygic is so cheap compared to others, its not going to be free maps/version updates.
Its nothing like OEM either.
While I have an OEM copy, the retail works in the same way. And with my OEM copy of windows XP, I can still change anything I like as long as its the only product key in use. One already does this, but I cannot remember which one.
You can replace memory, harddrives, and all sorts in a OEM computer.
The way to go is having to phone up and change what IMEI its licensed to, and having to give them a DEactivation code which you got when you deactivated/uninstalled it on your current phone.
Having said all that, methods like that cost money. Dont forget that at least sygic is more accomadating than Garmin for example.
If people want better methods, then they should be prepared to pay more. I am.
And no, there has not been any offical updates/fixes yet.
I know Sygic are doing whats seen as an acceptable practice in terms of copy protection, but thats not going to help sell.
What they need to do, is listen to what people want, and only then will they have a product that will not be subject to the same criteria as all the other satnav programs currently have.
"Well I'd like that one, but its got that issue...."
