I just noticed, after Hard reset, my Facebook app is gone. Youtube is there but not Facebook. Not that I use it, but where can I download it?
The Nokia N86 wins the race to v20 firmware

If you visit the Facebook Mobile site on your phone (the one it should be loading up by default), then right at the bottom of the page, there is an option to:
"Download a Facebook Icon for your Nokia N96"
Note, the N96 is not a typo - for some reason, this is what the Facebook Mobile site thinks your phone is.
Click that, and it should give you your icon back, even though it says "N96" not "N86".
HTH.
Thanks mate, 😊

If you're not going to use it, then why do you want it? Such a stupid time-wasting website. I deleted it off my phone as well as other stuff I don't need. I move all the useless icons that aren't deletable in a folder. Makes maneuvering around and finding stuff easier.
In addition to the GPS problem, my phone battery also seems to be affected by the new firmware. Charged it fully yesterday night and did not use the phone after that. Today morning, the charge is down to 2 bars. This has happened for the last 2 days. Is it possible to revert to the old firmware (atleast to check if that resolves my GPS and battery problems) ? Can anyone help me ?

Not possible to go back to older FW -- as far as I know, at least-
When the v31 will be out  I will search for this in flickr, there we found the v20 end of August 😃 The new one shoud be in work 😉
I've got to say guys am not too impressed with this new firmware. I mean ok to be fair it's fixed a few issues and the thing no longer crashes when it starts up anymore. But, it's dog slow!! I can twist the phone and it's taking up to ten seconds for the thing to respond and flip the display over. It's this slow in all areas by the way, that's just an example. Also the GPS is now struggling to get a gps lock.
Why oh why did I give up my beloved N82! Lol!

Just want to be able to restore fully to my original content. That's all. I got Facebook back, now I know how to retrieve it, and deleted it again 😊
shadamehr,
it's working.
regarding battery indicator: now it shows 4 bars, and iON Battery Timer shows 30% battery strength, while system reading shows 57% battery strength.

I already wrote that autorotation seem broken or at least messed up. It does take much longer comparing to v11, and also very often you can see your screen "drawing" content. It should be blazing fast. The temp solution is to turn off autorotation, like I did, until it's fixed (hopefully in next FW).
Cheers,
Miki

If it takes so long to rotate, you probably have the theme effects turned on. Disable them and it should be much faster.
I have disabled theme effects, however autorotation gets messed up from time to time, not with every single rotation, but quite often. In fact, my experience is that auto rotation worked better/smoother in v11 (regardless of theme effects On/Off).
re battery indicator inaccuracy:
Why the level of iON power saver battery indicator and system battery indicator differ?
A: According to different circumstances S60 standard and iON battery indicators may vary. The S60 standard indicator shows battery voltage left. Due to li-ion batteries characteristics it may show 100% for a long time and then start losing levels below quite fast. It’s not linear. The iON indication is linear and shows proportionally operating remaining time to discharge.
Although, this does not explain why my phone suddenly "dies" even if I have 5-6 bars left (or at least shown)?
Cheers,
Miki
Did anybody have this problem??? After I have updated to v20
my n86 cannot done backup by showing that "not enough memory please close some program and try again"
I have tried many times even restart my phone but this seem fail also
second: now I also facing problem with photo album. Suddenly all latest photo (captured photo) taken with my phone gone at all & just can view them in viewing all photo.
Very slow & lag when the theme effect is on. N-gage game play was smooth but sometimes got lag especially for Deep Sea Creatures & Asphalt where the graphic moving & lag for less than 1sec and continue running smooth during game play.
Video out was lag like hell for viewing photo & video playing & n-gage gameplay. Where I found that the free RAM just have 40Mb++ during video out.
Photography: in v20 quite much of improvement. Compare to v11 a bit more noises but more sharp picture. The flash colour still showing yellowish especially for indoor flash on photo (due to warm colour LED) :-P. Exposure time 1/8 always causing me to get a blur picture but for exposure time 1/14 is sufficient for me to hold the phone well. Video recording seem got lag which I found on the video I taken but not often.
Hope DamianDinning will take note on it 😊

Damian likely will, if/when he sees this, as they are curious about this "Disapearing Photo" issue, as you too are now the most recent person to report this.
Alas, with me, it's in v11, but it seems it's still present in v20 if you are seeing the exact same issue, on occasion.
Nice to hear about the photo improvements in v20 though.
this thread was opened on 30th september, now we have the 17th of october,
wins the race is a little bit overdone...
Still nothing out for normal country variants, and the buglist is big enough.
Nokia cant you do it better ? Or do you just not want to ?
(Damian this is not you i meant with this )
I still have no bug with my N86 V11.xxx,
Okay the autorotation is slow (without theme effects, or special themes activated), sometimes the N86 get stuck with the browser, and the Nokia messaging is nothing for me, so i switched to profimail.
But i bought it because of the camera, but the pics could be sharper, please do something for the compression !!!!
I have a 16GB SDHC class 6 Card, i dont mind if pictures are 3mb big or more, but i DO mind if the pictures arent sharp enough. Thats why i bought this cellphone
Please do something for us....
best wishes from bavaria were the beer tastes great, :icon14: and the cellphones are expensive 😃
Yours Mav, happy weekend for all
Hopefully when another major update after v20 I guess it will be called v30 arrives most of the bugs will be gone. I'm still angry that I'm still stuck with v11 as v20 has been out for a while. I have the NAM. I don't have any problems with my phone yet... I've never dropped it.
At Damian, is there anyway of turning off the shutter sound?
"is there anyway of turning off the shutter sound? "
strange; my shutter makes no sound, only have the key tones deactivated, and camera says tone Nr 1
but it makes no tone ? Is it a bug or a feature ?
My first N86’s camera would randomly work at certain times. When it didn’t work, the screen was black and none of the main camera’s prompts were selectable until the internal shutter would close. Once the internal shutter closed, the main camera’s prompts were selectable, but when I maneuvered across the prompts, the information about each icon would stay there. Under normal conditions, the information on the left of the icons disappears as you maneuver to another icon. I’ve returned it.
My second N86 is producing yellowish colouring when flash is enabled and fares worse in low light conditions. I’ve captured several images with both phones. There is most definitely a difference under the same lighting conditions. I can not stand this terrible colour accuracy of this second phone when there isn't sufficient light. White walls turning yellow and my skin turning yellow for images shouldn't be happening. Both NAM units were made in China. Someone mentioned all NAMs are made in China. Do I have another faulty unit that I should return? Are the Finland models better than the Chinese made ones?
Maverick, how did you deactivate the key tones? In profile settings, I know there’s an option to turn off “keypad tones”, but I’ve always had that disabled. As far as I know, the keypad tones are nothing but the tone the phone makes as you scroll past the prompts. Under the main camera’s settings, you can specify the capture tone. There are four choices on my phone. Unfortunately, I still have firmware 11.043 for my RM-485.
I’m using a helical incandescent bulb rated at 26W.
Right next to light bulb.
Light bulb shifted less than two feet away from me.
Taken in pitch black. Lights out. The result is not always that good in this condition. Sometimes the result is a little yellowish.
Anyway I'll try again in the morning. I guess results will be better than at night. The fact that results are better in pitch black than when there's surrounding light doesn't make sense.

Yes.. flash on or off indoor picture under incandescent & Fluorescent Light was showing incorrect white balance which I think this causes blueish & yellowish colour. Under totally dark condition flash on the WB seem to be much better & correct.
@r-486, i have in
Menu - System- Settings - generally- Personalize -Tones-
the keytones deactivated and under the keytones are the warntones also deactivated.
Sorry for the bad translation of the menu

I tried again this morning with the window curtain open. It still produces very bad yellowish colouring in my pictures. My last N86 did not do this. Some pictures come out very dark.

I had warning tones set to ON, because I don't know what that is. The manual doesn't say what it does. Even with both OFF, the shutter still makes a tone.

Just activate meeting or silent profile and the shutter sound will be muted...
perhabs if it helps i have cameratone nr 1, but i dont hear anything when im taking a picture.
Warntones on, just tested causes the shutter noise, warntone off nothing to hear...
I have Type RM-484 perhabs there are some differences ?
Best wishes Mav
Should I get another replacement? I do not like the yellowish effects. The white balance is way off. I would initially think it's a software issue; but I think it's a hardware issue as I wasn't getting this before.
lukpot wrote:Just activate meeting or silent profile and the shutter sound will be muted...
I already tried that. My silent profile with everything OFF still causes the shutter tone.

With warning tones OFF, I still get the shutter tone.
then perhabs it is because of the different type RM 484 and RM 485 perhabs there are different programmings ?
I dont have another idea...
Once again tested,
warntones on: shutter noise is there,
warn tones off: shutter noise is away,
with firmware 11.xxx, profile allgemein that means general i think.
Sorry that i could not help
best wishes Mav
When I check with JbakTaskman, I have noticed 2 Contacts app opened:
One is "real" contacts (file named phonebook2.exe), the other one is some link (coowebkitui.exe), that leads nowhere.
I don't know why Contacts are opened (resident in memory) even if I closed them (exit). However I don't see that "orb" on Contacts, I can just see this in JbakTaskman or Handy Taskman.
Also, sometimes I have Log active in memory, even if I haven't opened it at all.
Any idea?
maverick2 wrote:

Same with me. I guess that's the way it suppose to work.
Cheers,
Miki
I’ve tried incandescent white balance under user defined scene mode. With flash ON, the pictures are very dim and still look yellowish.
maverick2 wrote:then perhabs it is because of the different type RM 484 and RM 485 perhabs there are different programmings ?
I think the programming is different. Otherwise, everyone would've got v20 at the same time.

I don’t understand everything you wrote. If you hold the MENU key, it displays the active applications. I guess you can try closing it that way. This is also a good way to multitask.
that way is "seems" closed, however I can see it opened in those 2 apps, and I have to manually close them. That's why I wrote I don't see that "orb" over Contacts. I thought I was pretty clear explanation
If you prefer to have a silent camera both the shutter sound and focus confirmation you need to select a profile with this deactivated e.g. silent or customise your active profile and deactivate the warning tones. However, some markets and some operators require this to always be active which is why on some products deactivating the warning tones will not effect the camera sounds. atb
