hi 😊
i would like to change the little lock-icon when the keypad is locked 😉
Changing the Menu Icons?
any screenshots?
where will this end 😃 😃
great ideas 8)
I hope never Paul. The apps being made now are all things that were previously impossible.
Heck I can't hardly wait !@#$#
I was speaking to j2k earlier, discussing a couple of concepts ... don't be surprised if some very mind blowning apps head our way in the next few months 😊
Unfortunately the limited 7650 is being outdated by the software available for it. Let's just hope Nokia come up with a replacement with more memory or I'll be forced to buy a 3650 within the next 6 months...
hi ...
7650 is not a PC you know? ... it's a phone... smart phone ...
I am happy with 7650 like it is right now, all that additional make up
enhancements are not really usefull in the practice are only cosmetics...
The 7650 right now with all the pros and downspecs, still been one of the most suscessful product on the market, because there are people using it no matter what memory it has or not, the 7650 WORKS just fine and right now i am running all the apps that i need and i have 1.5 meg of FREE MEM... so! ... what is the problem with 7650 like it is?... you really need some killer or huge app that is not runnng by now? .. to me the answer is NOT.
May be in one or 2 years we will see some new feactures (really new, no skinz, no games, no icons, no color, etc.), really new feactures that really justify a change to a new product.
I think that will be thinks more like a Mini LapTops 😃 , to repleace this device.
well this is my opinion, based in what i am doing with my 7650, i know that there are people (more younger mostly), that want more and more memory, to play more huge games, to keep more big photos on it, to change to many colors and many skinz, to play music, whatever, to do thing with theirs phones that are doing at home with their PCs 😃
I think that all that are just FUN things, but not really a useful or needed things.
cya! 😃

Congratulations AEFox, for putting your neck on the line. Controversial perhaps but (to an extent) true. 😊
I would consider myself guilty in the customization stakes, i reckon few could plead innocent but the variety of games for 7650 nowadays is rediculous. I certainly didn't pay 200+ for a games machine. Get yourself a game boy advance or Playstation or something.
Although i can't wait for these apps, i'll download through curiosity rather than necessity.
Please don't think i don't appreciate your work, keep it up, but i just think if your after eye candy, you shouldn't get a 7650 in the first place. A fantastic piece of kit yes, but aesthetics? No Way!
Lee
hi.
in my opinion i paied a lot of money for this piece of technic and i always carry it around, wherever i go.
and yes, its still a phone, but..
i want to get out of it whatever is possible. if i can play little games while waiting for the train: perfect
keep images: perfect.. and when i dont like the look, and there might be a way to adept it to my point of interessts: perfect
so i dont want a phone like everyone else has. i want my phone, with my nummbers in it, my look and my background. not to show around but to make me feel better anytime i have to make a call, even when i dont like the guy i have to call 😉
so please keep on developing apps, there might be a few i will put on my phone 😊
greetings from germany, tias
You got something good goin here j2k.Maybe you have started one of those mini forum wars.Lol
hehe, guess not war, but different opinions, and that is good the way it is 😊
imagine only one opinion in the world.. would be very boring... and nothing to dream of...
😃
bring it on!
😉
I remember no so long ago when we all had tiny green screens (phones, not PCs) - now it's big & colour, oplogos, background images, midi ringtones... If you think this doesn't matter, just check how many ringtones, images, colours, games you've loaded the phone with.
I agree AEFOX, first it's a phone, but it's also a acceptable PDA and a reasonable game platform. It's also a novelty, so we're all seeing how far we can go with it.
Anything which lets us change the look of the 7650 is welcome! (icon packs have been very successful on the 9210)
Keep it up j2k
When Nokia decided to put the symbian OS on a phone, it ceased to be a phone, and became a handheld PC.
That's the long and short of it.
Anybody who paid full price for the 7650 and only uses it for telephony and one or two other minor functions has ripped themselves off.
I have to disagree with AEFOX. It is a PC and not a phone. As such I want to (and am/will be able to) use it as one.
I rate the 7650 akin to the Amiga 500 when it was first released. It is truly groundbreaking stuff. When everybody else is using mono-colour screens and dos (nokia standard os). Here comes the 7650 with a full colour screen and kick ass GUI operating system to boot.
I do agree that there is a lot I do with my phone which is not perhaps 'necessary'. But on the same note I'm sure there is a lot you do with your PC which is not 'necessary' as well (don't argue, I know you've changed your backdrop/changed colour schemes etc).
Series 60 devices are handheld computers.
I don't know but i think that pc is not the fancy looking thing like my 7650. Ok i use it for many things like playing games, working, developing but i am not of the people that will have a dozen of screensavers, wallpapers, skins ,etc. On my windows xp i have even disabled the skins to gain some speed. But on my mobile phone things are different. I want it to be fancy, trendy, because i always have it with me and more people see my phone rather than my pc. So stuff like the icon changes or the skins on my phone looks great to me. More customization for sth that is a part of me. It's sth more than a communication tool and something less than a pda, but surely deep inside it's a pc. Now on games? I prefer some classics on it (not 3d and stuff like that), but nothing more and nothing less. If i want more then i'll wait for the n-gage...
This is the great thing about the 7650. It's something different for everybody. That's why I say the more applications the better. Everyone can choose what they want.

Hi Guys,
Cool and interesting debate. Enjoyed hearing people's views. Keep them coming! 😊
Going back to the original subject, hows the icon changing thing going j2k?
note: i realise my enthusiasm for the icon changing thingy somewhat contradicts my last two posts! 😮ops:
Just curious! 😃 😉

The project is going fine 😉 Beta testers should be on standby for a beta release within the next 7 days.
Cheers
I'm gonna start pulling the time and days :P
Take your time 8) j2k
Haa!! Watch out j2k, I managed to change program's names!
Now I only have to learn C++ 😉
That's not hard to do 😉 It's only changing a .rsc :P
😮ops: It was hard to me... 😃
BTW Does your program take backups of those files when edited? (camption and image file)
or are they replaced permanent?

No files are edited 😊
So that happens when 2 applications have the same UID? I was wondering about that quite some time ago...now I know! 😃
So that happens when 2 applications have the same UID? I was wondering about that quite some time ago...now I know! 😃
It's a little more detailed than just duplicating the UID 😉 But that's the gist of it, yeah.
Yes I know, got it now! Nice thinking!
is this aplication icon changer will slow the phone down too much, is there a preview of size and how many icon packs will include 😊))
thank you
and keep up the good work
is this aplication icon changer will slow the phone down too much
It should only slow down about half a second 😊
is there a preview of size
Around 300-500kb so far, I'm trying to reduce it though

Haven't counted, around 30-ish
