Changing the Menu Icons?

Beta version has now gone live to the beta testers.

Here is the release note that was sent:
Hello all,

Here is Icon Pack Beta One. Unfortunately it only changes a few icons due to system instability when changing others. I'm working on fixing the bugs, but until then, the following icons have been changed:

+ Menu icon

+ Bluetooth

+ Infrared

+ Modem

+ Settings

+ Call Divert

+ Mix Pix

Apologies if this is less than you anticipated, however I've been working
really hard to fix the bugs with other icons (Makes the phone really really
unstable), but so far no luck 😞 I've even posted a message to Forum Nokia to try to get a solution, but so far no response. 😞

ATTN 3650 users: It is recommended you install this pack on the MMC, that way if anything does go wrong, you can revert to the non-icon packed system by removing the MMC.

Please uninstall the Alpha Version before installing the Beta.

Please reply to this mail with your opinions, and any bugs you find.

Size of beta: 27kb setup file / 45kb when installed.

Cheers

Thanks

So... can I be the first one to post screenshots? 😉

these are taken with my 7650, the program anyway works great on both it and the 3650, installed either in phone or in MMC memory

GREAT WORK j2k 😉 and I hope you'll get past "problems" with other icons

Keep the good work comming! And let us know when all the oddities are gone or when you release the next version, either beta or not.

Congrat. pal.

from my 7650.

i have copy from z: cf.r05 and cf_caption.r05 and delete cf.rsc and cf_caption.rcs

same for Todo, MixPix, Gs, IrApp etc etc...

so now i have text in italian. 😃

but i can't see new menu icon.

i have v3.16

ps 5kb is too big for an .app that only call another .app 😞
but i can't see new menu icon.
Eh? The screenshots you posted do show the new menu icon (yellow puzzle)

ps 5kb is too big for an .app that only call another .app 😞

I can't reduce it any more, sorry 😞

ooppss, new menu icon is the "yellow puzzle" ?! ok now.

if yoo hav SpaceDoubler, look a ".app" that it do.
SD make a ".app" less than 1kb.
if you look into this file you see "EUSER[100039e5].DLL SDSENGINE[101f4298].DLL" so i thik it pass some parameter to Sdengine and run application.

if i look into your ".app" file, like "cf.app" kb i see a lot of "œ/" seem garbage. but i'm not a programmer.

sorry for bad english

Yes I'm aware of SpaceDoubler and it's .app sizes, but the .app here does more than just launch another application.

Cheers

another think,
"favourites" create a small file in c:\system\favourites\
maybe is possible to use a similar procedure. like a ".bat" file in msdos system...

Yes, but as I just said, the application does MORE than just call another application!

That's why there's extra coding in the .app, hence the file size. Personally, I think 4.5kb is quite reasonable for what the application actually does.

Cheers

Thanks for your kind words everyone 😊

Beta One will be released to the general public this Friday. (One week after the beta testers received their copy).

great work my frind 8)

HI!...

nice j2k ...

but what you mean Beta version? ...

Beta version you mean to see some icons that you selected and you changed on our phones? what we are testing with this?, we now that already works.

Or you mean beta version of an app that actually we can
make our own icon packs? ... but only work for a limited time... this
sound a real Beta version for me 😃 then here we are testing the app.

BTW!.. i hope that the final version make a group called icons or something like that when we see the app list on stacker or space doubler, because i don't want to see a huge list of apps that actually are 90% icons installed. I am sure that you think on fix that too 😉

cya! 😃

great work! 8)

Guys,

It has come to my attention that the beta has now been leaked. As a safety procaution, I am now only going to send betas out to the testers who have responded to my e-mails.

Those who have not responded will now be automatically removed from the beta testing list.

I have contacted the ISP of the site with the beta (among other illegal stuff), and I wait to see what they will say.

Cheers

Yep, I think that's what's going to have to be done. Thanks JyriK 😊

FYI, Beta Two is coming shortly (with identification) which will change quite a few more icons 😉

Cheers

It's spiteful isn't it. You trust someone to beta test something and they go spilling it all over the internet. makes one wonder about their sense of professionalism.

Keep up the good work fella!

At midnight, UK time, Beta One went live to the public at http://iconchanger.symbian-world.com

Go get it!
