Tried the timezone setting under "Date & Time"?

Yes, I did change the time zone settings under "Date & Time", but that doesn't seem to fix the problem. Thanks for trying...:top:

I unbranded my n95 and updated it and now my speaker is broken so i have to repair it, can i change back to the old produkt code when i got the update for the new code? i hope u will understand my stupid question.

Yes, you can restore the product code to it's original using same software and service it at nokia for warranty purpose. Mine was serviced after changing back to original and nokia serviced for free as of warranty.

Just give it a try if it works....download setting wizard off nokia website, install on N95 and run the application....follow the steps according to the country you want....might work...

Tried that, but didn't work either... all it did was define settings for MMS, Internet, and WAP. The other option was configuring email. Thanks for the suggestion.

Have you tried applications->Clock->World->Add City ?
If you then select the Usa City in the clock app, hopefully your active time zone will use $Usd for online purchases etc.

If all else fails, back up your contacts and calendar entries with pc suite SYNCHRONISE then format the phone with *#7370#

Although you said you dont want to format the phone, you only need to format the internal memory and not the microSD card, so your music and files should be safe - you may need to reinstall some of your apps but if you kept a copy of all Sis and Jar files that should not be a problem

After formatting, You should get asked to select a new time zone

i have a nokia n95 and its with the vodafone sofware can i change it with an original software so that the vodafone icons and stuff in the phone will go out? and where can i find the software?

when i try to login to my home wifi the phone just says 'shared key authentication required' even tho i have ebtered the wep key, help please!!! :con?

I could be wrong but if on your wireless router the wifi encryption method is set to "Shared Key" (i.e WPA or WPA-PSK) it wont work ?
I'm sure someone will correct me. 😊

I have a WEP key but have encryption method set to Open System and it works no problems.

Also....check that you dont have a space character in your key.

is this not a bit dodgy security wise?

It still has a 128bit WEP key.

And......I live in the middle of nowhere. My wifi would have to broadcast over a mile for the nearest house to see it 😊

When i tried to open any download link with .rar files, the browser is giving message 'Not supported' and the file is not getting downloaded. How to download .rar files? any workaround?

Does anyone know if there's a way to show the date and time in SMS messages on the N95 instead of having to see it in message details?

Please help. This will make life much easier!

Not possible to change/enable this without using any 3rd party software (..of which I've heared none..).

I have been using WPA/PSK since the N70 was released a few years ago. It works fine on my NetGear router & N95 and is much more secure than WEP.

sorry if im repeating a question but i cant get any games to load on my n95 and it wont let me delete any either when i try to they just freeze the phone.

please someone help

I want to import a personal certificate on a N95 for synchronization with the company exchange server.
I tried to import thru bluetooth in a .p12, .cer format. I tried also to modify the certificate with openSLL.
It seems that is not possible to import personal certificate exported from the exchange server on a N95!!
The support site answered me just to import it in a .p12 format. I'm not dummy, I know what I did, I just become a message that the file is corrupt, but I can use this certificate on all other mobiles!
I will change to a Sonyericsson P1, or do someone know how to solve the problem? Also the support didn't tell me when there will be a version 13 of the firmware, if the problem is known and if is possibile to downgrade to version 10.

At the risk of getting responses such as "read the thread entitled 'Bozos Only'", or even worse, please can you help me.

After 3 or 4 years of Sony Ericsson ownership, I've finally seen the light, and am expecting an N95 to drop through my letter box any day now.

As a PDA user, I've often regretted messing about with the factory settings only to discover that I've disabled some useful utility or other, so my question is:

How should I carry out the initial setup of my N95?

As a guide to what I want from it, I use MS Outlook on my PC (calendar and contacts only), and would like to sync with this. I have a wireless router at home, or could sync through USB. I also have a car-based (fixed) satnav, so would envisage using the N95 as a pedestrian-based system in the UK, and perhaps as satnav when I go on holiday to spain in a hire car. Can I stop the phone from automatically connecting to load up maps?

Sorry if my question's been asked before, but there's a lot on this site (a REAL lot!) and I can't find too much relating to initial setup.

Thanks

Pete

Not sure about what you're after with "How should I carry out the initial setup of my N95?", but regarding:

Sync Outlook Calendar and Contacts: You'll have to use Nokia PC Suite's "Synchronize" feature. Works well over either Bluetooth or Cable. Cannot use WLAN. If you're using MS Exchange you can use the bundled "Mail for Exchange" application to sync data (mail, calendar, contacts, tasks) over the air. Note that you should only use EITHER PC Suite OR Mail for Exchange to sync contacts and/or calendar, not both.

Prevent N95 from downloading maps: Yes, you can disable the "connect to network" feature from within N.Maps in order to prevent it from downloading maps. You will then have to pre-install maps on memory card using the PC application "Nokia Map Loader". The A-GPS feature also uses the network (uses some 5-6kb per session) and can be enabled/disabled separately (e.g. you can have A-GPS enabled but still prevent N.Maps from downloading maps using network).

Hi Rafe,

I have a question for you. I just got my N95 yesterday and charge the battery about couple hours before I turned it on. I tried every feature on the phone until the battery has 2 bars left. I charged it at night before I went to sleep, then took it off when I woke up. It was full charged in the morning, and I brought it to work. All of sudden, the battery is died around afternoon. I haven't use it at all, just a few phone calls which is impossible if it will drain the battery out. My question is did I need to charge the battery longer at the first time or it is just because the battery is defected? Is there any same cases happen like mine already? What should I do? Thank you for your time Jay

You should have totally drained the battery to the point that the phone turns off before recharging it. You should do this the first few charges to keep the battery working at optimum performance. I try not to top up the charge at all and just wait for the battery to fully drain before fully charging it.

NO, NO, NO and NO!!!
This is not correct for Li-Ion batteries (like in N95)!!! It will most likely result in decreased battery performance. Li-Ion batteries are best held if you charge them often, even though they haven't reached the "one bar left"... This also applies when the battery is new!! Also, Li-Ion batteries does not have to be "fully" charged everytime like som other types. You can safely "abort" even though it's not fully charged.
Li-Ion batteries have a "learning cycle", it'll mean that it "learns" what it's max charge level is after some charges, hence the capacity will increase during the first periode (1-2 weeks depending on how often you charge).

NiCad batteries has this "memory effect" that appears if you do not regulary drain the battery.
NiMH batteries has a minor "mem.effect" and they should always be fully charged.
Li-Ion does not have ANY "memory effect". They should for other reasons preferrably never be fully drained (may result in a useless battery...).

My appologies, You are correct superswede, top up Li-ion's as often as you like...

lithium-ion batteries should be charged early, laden...and often.

but my friend telling me that you are not supposed to charge Li-ion battery all the time since it will make the battery becoming weaker. he got the information from some guy who is working at cell phone store, so many ppl saying different thing. i'm not really expert on this kind of cell phone thing, that's why i joined this forum. thank you for your information, though.

Superswede is correct with his information regarding Li-Ion batteries. Just do a search on google and you'll find the information you need about the specifics.

Well one shouldn't generalize and I'm not claiming to be an expert on cell phones but I do have more than a general knowledge and interest and to be honest I've never met anybody in a cell phone store that have any deep knowledge about phones, not even in Nokia Brand store. In general they are salesmen (...and that's what they are hired for so that's fine by me..).

Can you help me with my WLAN?
It says I need to enter an internet authentication code. I know this code but dont know where to enter it

Do you got any idea why my internetbrowser on my n95 doesnt work anymore? I tried everythingbut it still not working. Im gonna take my phone to the store tomorrow.
