Dont suppose anyone knows how to do tests like screen test, lights, speakers? My n95 seems to have stopped vibrating when i receive a text or call and vibration is turned on.
Ask any N95 questions - I'll do my best to answer. (NOTE: old thread.)
Hi
I was wondering if you could help me...
My n95 has been operating fine with the usb and bluetooth connection to pc.
I dont know what happened or what I couldve done, but whatever PC I plug my N95 into now, via usb, windows shows an error message. It says ''Device not recognized. The device has mulfunctioned and windows cannot recognize the device.'' Its an unkown usb, that doesnt want to work in any mode.
Yet the phone seems to be working quite fine on its own...it seems
Could somebody help out, if its not a problem
NSU cannot seem to detect my phone.
- I have installed PC Suite 6.84 and NSU 1.3.85.
- I have a DKE-2 Cable, and the phone works fine with PC Suite.
- I am connecting the phone to a laptop USB 2.0 port. The phone is on PC Suite USB Mode.
- I have changed the Product Code from 0548170 - Orange UK to 0534832 - Hong Kong to 0536084 - Hong Kong. Currently on 10.x firmware, and Nokia site shows that I have available updates for all three product codes.
- I have tried running NSU standalone and separate from PC Suite and it still does not work.
- Firewall is set to allow NSU to connect and Anti-Virus should not be a problem.
- NSU goes from "Detecting type of phone" to "Searching for connected phone" to "Unable to find phone".
- When NSU is launched via PC Suite, the phone is "Disconnected via USB" according to PC Suite when NSU is searching for a connected phone.
Would anyone have any ideas or experiences with this? V10.x firmware is really ticking me off.

Try disabling the firewall, leave it for a couple of minutes, then start NSU.

I am hopping to buy Jabra BT500v bluetooth headset for N95. I have noted that BT500v is with bluetooth version of 1.2 and N95 is 2.0. Will this be a aproblem? Even if it a slight mistake, please mention. I got two options of bluetooth headsets.
Jabra BT500v &
Nokia BH 900
I don't have any complain about bulkiness of both headset. But now the version.
Thanks

Your headset should work fine.
I think the main difference between BT 1.2 to 2.0 is that 2.0 is faster and supports Stereo Headsets (someone correct me if I am talking b*llocks)
Can anyone knows how you can edit/delete individually the log file of calls nad sms without having to delete the log file completelly?
Is there any program who can do stuff like that?
i have just pruchased a n95 (on tmobile) and i am havining trouble transferring my contacts and calendar item from my n70. i have gone through the settings, tansfer data method and i get as far as sending a message (datamover.sis) to the n70 but when i try to install it it says certificate may not yet be valid. is expired or phone date settings maybe incorrect. i have also tried doing from the n70 to the n95 but that keeps saying installation of datamover.sis is not supported. i have checked the clock on bothe phones and they set exactly the same time, date and location. any help would be appriciated

Hi there.
My N95 comes tomorrow and I was wondering whether I could copy contacts/settings/photos/calender entries etc across to the N95?
Its not a big issue if I can't (I suspect the contacts won't be a problem and this is the highest priority as I have my personal and work contacts on the N70).
I know I'll find out tomorrow anyway, but thought it best to be armed with some forethought.
I've already asked this on a seperate thread, but not had any replies so thought you might be able to help me.
I've downloaded a number of countries maps onto my N95 for the satnav. Is there a list anywhere on the phone or pc that shows which countries I have downloaded?
tia,
Tony😊

To put in short; no, there isn't.

Oh well, thanks for the reply:icon14:
It wouldn't have taken much for your loaded maps to have been displayed in 'map loader' would it? Or even better an option on the N95 itself listing what maps you've got loaded? Hopefully this feature will be included in a future update :dontknow:

I recently claimed on my orange insurance to get a new N95 as the back light had broken. Before doing so i backed up all my contact info etc. using the PC Suite. When my replacement arrived, I noticed the OS was slightly different than before, with the stand by applications displayed in a column down the left hand side of the screen, rather than a strip along along the top.
When I transfered my backed up data back to my new N95, the OS returned to its original state. I tried returning to factory settings, but this unfortunately didn't work
My question is whether it would be possible to get the newer OS (with the applications listed down the left hand side) back some how, maybe downloading an upgrade or something?? as I much preferred the new layout.
Sorry if this question has already been answered, but any help at all would be much appreciated.
Many thanks

Perform a Hard Reset and it should all go back to the way it was when you took delivery of the new unit.
Don't mean to sound stupid, but how would i do that??
And thanks a lot for the quick reply too!

Type *#7370#, and do a backup first, or the lost of personal stuff is total:icon4:
Cheers lads, you've both been more than helpful!!
I tried that, but nothing seems to happen when i type it in then send it?? I'm sure im just missing sumthing really obvious like, anything else u can think of??
If that does not work, do a firmware upgrade with Nokia Software Update, even if it already have the last firmware inside, flash the same version, and the result is the same.

The restoration of data from one product variant to another may cause problems. You need to determine the product variant of your original phone and compare with the replacement. If they are different, you should only restore contacts and messages and NOT settings. Hints the two are differnt include a different standby screen (the icons running across horizontally in standby mode is the factory default known as active standby) and whether or not there's Orange customisation (Theme, Splash screens, etc)

You omitted to mention the software you are using to change product codes. After using the software, you should either do a cclean or re-boot your computer. There may be a driver conflict between NSS and NSU - works for me anyway!
Hi Rafe,
Trying a Nokia N95 (V.11.0.026, 17-04-07, RM-159 (68.03)) and have got a mailbox set to auto retrieve every 15 mins.
I get a very very annoying nag, saying: "Maximum number of connections in use. Close an active connection first."
This occurs when nothing else is running in the background.
Any ideas why?
Thanks.
Ozzie

Hello!
I unbranded my n95 and updated it and now my speaker is broken so i have to repair it, can i change back to the old produkt code when i got the update for the new code? i hope u will understand my stupid question.
I have kind of a complex question, but I would appreciate any help any of you can give me. Sorry if I am repeating the question, I tried searching for the solution, to no avail. I recently bought the N95 when I was in India, and used it for a month there with a pre-paid card. When I turned on the phone for the first time, it asked me among other things, COUNTRY, to which, I selected INDIA. Now Im back in the US, and I would like to change the default country to USA. I know it probably doesnt make a big difference, but now when I try to buy software, or even add navigation, it quotes prices in the Indian currency, and not USD. I have looked through the entire settings without finding a solution. I really dont want to format my phone just to change the country, especially if there is another solution, as I have lots of software, pictures, music, etc Please Help!!!:con? :con? :con?
