Is there any official or unofficial release date for the 8 gig?
Ask any N95 questions - I'll do my best to answer. (NOTE: old thread.)
Hi there,
does anyone know of an application that can access the internal N95 gps and give me my position using British Grid System (i.e. Eastings & Northings)?
Thankx
In the menu there is an icon labelled search that lets you search yahoo images. On pressing a key it brings up a list of previous searches that start (or contains)with that letter. Is there anyway of clearing this history? Tried going into the browser and pressing clear privacy data but this doesn't work - also tried reistalling the operating software all to no avail.....someone please help me!
I'd like to remove the sms logs. What kind of applications can I use to do that?
hi

Dear Sir, I switched from the N70 to the N95 and cannot pair a Plantronics BT headset...any suggestions??

If you can't find your BT headset when browsing for devices on your N95 my guess is that you haven't set the headset in "paring" mode.
How do I set the "pairing" with a Plantronics BT ear peice (for use with an N95)? The ear piece has an on/off button only.
Thank you for any and all assistance!
Hi, I've had my N95 for about 6 weeks now and have just had a big bill from
O2, most of which is for internet access (wap). I don't often log onto the web so I am a bit puzzled by this.
I am always careful to exit properly if I have been on the internet.
I do use the maps with navigation quite a bit, and I am wondering if it logs onto the internet every time without me being aware - anyone help me on this?
If this IS what is happening, is there any way for me to get navigation without accessing the internet?
If I don't use navigation, but just use the maps feature, will it still log onto the internet?
Also, I have wirless internet at work. If I log on to this wireless internet using WLAN does this mean I don't pay extra to O2 for it?
Thanks for your help,
Stuart

Yes Maps uses a data connection to download the map data on the fly. You should go to Nokias website and get MapLoader which can preload all the map data you need.

Wireless is completely operator independent and is purely a handset-based feature so, no, you don't have to pay O2 anything for using it, they don't even know you have!
Hello there I hope someone can help me. I will soon be coming to the end of my T-mobile flext 25 contract and I want the N95 badly! I really don't want to pay a lot for a new 18 month contract to find that the new N95 8GB has come out and I've missed out. I therefore have a couple of questions:
Is it worth me waiting until the N95 8GB comes out and does anyone know if it will be a lot more than the original N95? Also does anyone know which UK service providers will be getting this? Hopefully T-mobile will have it so it will be an easy swap.

Suggest you check your manual for the BT headset (I'm using SE so I don't know). Usually the device is set to pairing mode in one of the two following ways:
1. Turn device Off. Press and hold "On" for some 5 secs => Start pairing (e.g. search for device on N95).
2. Turn device Off. Press and hold "On" + one of the other buttons on device (like volum +/-) for some 5 secs => start pair......
ive made sum n95 gif wallpapers which are compiled from 4 or 5 images of my car and they change in sequence, can someone please tell me if there is a 3rd party app i can use to get the wallpaper working plz? ive searched everywhere online and i cant find any help, surely theres a way
hope someone can help
thank you guys

This worked well! Thanks for your assistance. Saved me from buying yet another BT headset!
Got my N95 yesterday and the site has been really useful so far in helping me set it up, I had an N93 so it's quite similar in many ways. However, here a few questions on a couple of things I need some help with. Any replies are greatly appreciated.
1. The first one is not a big issue, it's just bugging me. On my N95 the data network indicator by the signal strength is shown as the dotted/broken symbol which I understand from the manual means that there is a network available but not currently in use. When I connect the symbol is no longer dotted/broken and that's all fine and in line with the manual. However, on my N93, I never had (and just tried it again to be sure) the broken/dotted symbol but was still able to connect to to whatever type of data network was available and the normal full symbol appeared. Was it a setting issue with my old phone and am i definitely not being charged currently on the N95 with the broken symbol permanently displayed?
2. Leading on from that, I'm on O2 (in the Reading, Berkshire area mainly) and so far I've seen 3G, E and normal (gsm?) types of connection when playing with the browser. Are there any opinions on whether I should just leave the network setting to 'dual' and let the handset decide, or should I always set to UMTS if I want quicker downloads? Will it default to a less speedy network type if UMTS isn't available?
3. GPS - I don't plan to subscribe and get 'turn by turn' type navigation and so I've followed the advice about turning off the network in the settings on Nokia Maps. I just plan to get basic route info and use the tracking function while manually stepping through the various changes in direction (with a passenger of course! - I've actually just this today from Enfield to reading and it worked perfectly - directing me perfectly along North Circular etc and back to the M4). It seems however, that it very briefly uses some data download to help the GPS 'lock on' in the first place. It's not a great deal (about 100Kb out and the same incoming having checked on the LOG application) but I still don't want this to happen - unless of course I can't stop it - because O2 are possibly the worst provider as far as data charges are concerned.
4. Can anyone tell me some easy websites to see my device downloading streaming video content (which I plan to do using my wireless home net) as I'm struggling to find one that will show me my new phone can do this. I tried to watch a video from the BBC Sport website but it looked similar to my N93's attempt and just seems to do nothing when it opens the page up.
5. Finally, is there a decent application (free?) that can convert mpeg's etc to the format required by N95's. Just wanted a couple of music videos on it to show off with but can't manage to find a programme that does it.
All help appreciated and I promise this will be my biggest ever post and I'll keep it brief after this!
DLReading:
1. I'm not sure about your first question, sorry.
2. Regarding your question about the network mode settings, keep it dual if you have UMTS available but are travelling into areas that do not have UMTS available frequently. Keep in mind that will put more drain on your battery. I have mine set to just use GSM.
3. In response to your GPS question about network charges, You can turn off A-GPS, which is used for initial lock, by going to 'tools>settings>general>positioning>positioning methods> assited GPS = disabled. set to 'Integrated GPS'. under 'position server' you can set 'access piont' to 'must be defined' so that way you are sure if it is using a network or not. This will affect your inital lock time when starting your GPS, but it's not that much more of a wait.
4. In regards to streaming web content, your phone is capable of doing this. Search google for "3gp movies" or something similar and try different sites.
5. A decent application (free) for converting movies is called "SUPER". Just google "super" and it should be the first link. It's from ERightsoft dot com.
please can some one help?
I can't send or recieve mms messages. I have the setting sent to my phone from Nokia and Vodafone a number of times but still doesn't work. It tries to send but then says it failed because "message not allowed"
I also can't do voice calls because of "no 3g coverage".
any help would be great!
Hi all,
I just got my N95, It already had V12.0.13 installed, I started maps, and maploader, downloaded the maps (downloaded so quick and saved), then i started maps, using my WAP, and it was working well, until i knew there is an upgrade so I went to nokia website, downloaded the 3.06ms .sis file (1_0) it installed v1.2 of maps, well, before i installed it, It was very very smooth & fast, i mean when moving the cursor over the map, i can tell it was fast...after the upgrade, it has become TOO slow, the moving of the cursor on he map is way too slow to be normal...and with the old version the position of the gps was not accurate, it was shifted a couple of meters away, when i installed the new version it was soooo accurate, so i dont wanna go back...
Also i suspected that it might be slow because it was using the WAP to download stuff (i'd like to know what is it retrieving - havent i already downloaded a 4.5 mb of my country from maploader already)?
so anyway , in the setting, i made Use connection to NEVER, and restated, but same problem..now its not retrieving any data from the WAP but its still slow as hell, can anyone please help??
Thank you very much
please help
Any suggestions plase?
So I need some help. Today I went to a CVS to print out a picture from my Nokia N95. I connected via Bluetooth. Afterwards, I looked at my phone and the "B" representing the bluetooth connection is still in the right hand corner of my phone directly under the Battery Life. My problem is I can't get to my menu screen. When I touch the menu buton I get a pop up that says, "Menu: feature not supported." I dont' know whether it is my bluetooth connection that won't let me get to my menu? Any suggestions?
My 02 N95 came with UK maps already installed onto a bundled 1GB memory card. If i want to buy a bigger Micro SD card, how do i transfer the Maps from the old card to the new one?? Its location isnt obvious in the file manager section.
You won't need to copy them over, just reinstall the maps onto the new card using maps loader software on a PC (it comes included on a CD with your phone). Alternatively, just copy the entire contents of your 1Gb card onto the new larger one.
Hi there,
the calls log doesn't show the call icon correctly. Is this something I can fix???

It maybe that your tarriff hasnt got it enabled on vodafones end same would apply to video calling (they have to be enabled seperatly in your tariff).
If they are i reckon your access point settings are not quite right or your using the wrong one.

This has been a bug from the start, it will only show mobile phone icons. It maybe fixed in the new firmware upgrade who knows.

I receive email from my work voicemail that sends wav audio attachments, but I can't seem to play them. they are adpcm codec files. is there an available player for these? (when I try to play them I get the message that they are corrupted files, but I can play them when I transfer them to my pc) I recently switched to the n95 from a Palm Treo where I had an app installed (mVoicemail) that allowed me to "view" the attachment in their player - is there anything like this out there?
I need to enable TKIP to access a wireless network, but TKIP cannot be found within my phone settings for access points.
I have the latest N95 s/w after changing product code.
Where can I find TKIP so I can enable it?
