Hi,

Is it possible to browse files and folders that are shared on a computer on a WiFi network?

I have various docs, pics, vids etc that are shared on my works network, and it would be extremly useful to be able to access these files, rather than lug around a laptop.

Hello,

I have a question : I have problems when using BH501 and my N95 phone.
The musics is interupted (discontinuted) and there are some 'clang' 'clang' in the headset. And my N95 reboots sometimes, all alone !
The BH 501 works fine with another model of phone.
Bluetooth seems working on my n95 (exchanging data).

On the Nokia website site BH501 is not listed compatible with n95, but BH501 is advertised on the manual user of the n95 (that's why i have bought it).

Do you think my phone have a problem? Or i have to wait for a new firmware ?

Thank you.

Suggest you do a hard reset of the handset... (but this will format the internal memory and lose all contacts, calendar, apps etc.)

1. Power off the N95
2. Hold down 3, * and GREEN buttons
3. Power on (whilst still holding the above three buttons)
4. wait 60 seconds (whilst still holding the above three buttons)

If this doesn't work, your N95 probably has a hardware fault and needs repaired.

Hi, I basically want a program for my PC which will alert me if i'm sent an SMS/MMS while my N95 is connected to my PC. It's really annoying to have to keep on checking the phone or refreshing the inbox in the Nokia PC Suite application if I want to know whether or not someone has tried to get a hold of me while my phone is on silent and not somewhere that I can feel it vibrate. Does such a program exist?

Hello out there,i've got a question too. First i must mention that i work on winXP and use PcSuite that Synchronises with Outlook. My issue is that i can sync contacts(ex. new contact, deleted contact, new phone) from my n95 to desktop BUT i can't sync assigned contact pics to Desktop. Any suggestiongs? Thank you

hi there, this may sound like a daft question but is the n95 supposed to end a call when the slider is closed up(mine doesnt)
is it a setting i'm missing,a faulty phone or normal

No, it's not supposed to end call by closing slider and there is no setting for that option either.

Hello there,
Jus t got the new N95...really enjoying this new gadget but as i get deeper into it, i discover some faults in symbian software. Basically i wanna ask you if it is possible for me to see the exact time that a sender sends a message as i see that when i receive an sms the time sent is the mobile's receiving time. Ive been using nokia 6230i for a long time and i suppose the time stamp on a message comes from the messge centre of the network...it is so simple and yet not on the N95. Thanks...

Hello,

Hoping you can help.

A few days ago i noticed in a photo of a N95 that there was a timer of how long that N95 had been on/used for.

I was wondering how i could do that.

Does anyone know?

Please let me know.

Thanks for your time.

Well, as I'm about to upgrade to a N95 ( not til next month, really excited about it too! ) I'vebeen spending some time reading through this thread . Not all of it ho, its still too long to read in one go, but just wanted to say a big thanks tro Rafe for putting togetehr the responses to the questions, and also for the guys asking the questions in the first place, its been really informative.

I just got N95 from T-mobile service(I bought the phone by myself). But I don't know how to use IM function in this phone. How can I set up for server for it? How can I use AIM, MSN or other tools like that? Thank you for helping me. I've been tried to figure out for whole night but still did not work. I am sooo mad now:frown:

It was not a problem to install one. Now when I bought 2 gig card it is look like I need some tools to remove original card from the slot. It is impossible to do just with my own fingers. Are there any simplified steps for that?

My dear friend...if i understood well you just push the card with your finger and it comes out on its own...just like in every other device that uses a removable memory card. You dont pull it out on your own..but remeber always to push the on/off button and select 'remove memory card' or else your phone might restart.

Hi there,

About 3 days ago (outta the blues) my N95 won't allow for re-dial of last number dialed by simply pressing send. I went in to view call log under tools... and sure enough- wont let me view any call logs either.

I have already upgraded to the latest firmware version today (successfully) but when the phone auto installs apps from mem card... the problem persists. Also, did factory reset to no avail.

However i did notice upon new version install (without having done data backup for mem card) the send key and call logs worked fine.

I am suspecting a corrupt 3rd party app. What say you??

Thanks and best regards,

Raj

Thank you for help and now I am feeling bad for such a silly question.
Anyway I have installed new 2gig card and I was able to copy over all files from original to the new one. The only problem I have that Map Loader still see just 1 gig of space. Nokia PC suite works OK and seems like able to recognise 2gig of space. I used Windows Explorer to complete this copy over and it is very possible that I copy some config files from original Nokia memory card that creating this problem. At this point I just wondering if you have any experience with this particular situation.
Thank you one more time and thank you in advance.

I may be about to ask the stupidest of all questions ever posted on here, but how do I turn 3G off on my phone? I've been told it conserves battery but I can't find an option to do it! (I know I must be missing something....)

Apologies from a bright, but technologically thick N95 owner!

:con?

I need to know the answer to this question before I finally take the plunge and buy a N95.

I know the phone can handle satnav.

I have read conflicting reports.

Some say that the sat nav s/w is actually installed on the phone, others say that it only ever holds 0.5 miles of info at any time on the phone and as you move, it updates itself.

If the latter is true, then having satnav on this phone would make it very expensive to use.

Can some kind person clarify things for me.

Both are actually correct since you can choose to either pre-download maps (complete country or in some cases an area in a country) to the memory card/phone using Nokia Maploader on a PC or skip the whole thing and download maps "as you go".
As you yourself stated, if you don't have a flatrate data the latter option can become expensive... I allways predownload maps using my computer and then still have the "connect using internet" enabled on my phone to have the maps updated if there are newer ones available. This normally generates none or minor (<100kb) data transfers.

It depends on your sat nav software and what you allow it to do. I use Route66 and there is very little network access if any! Smart2go which is installed on the phone from the factory will access the network for map updates if you let it. Best advice is that if this will be a problem to you then get the N95 on T-mobile with a Web'n'Walk package!

Where can these maps be downloaded?

Are they free?

dog-man

Yes, maps are free but for navigation you have to pay extra. Download maps by using Maploader (which can be downloaded from nokia.com)

When I have my n95 plugged in the the usb and PC suite open, at the bottom is says 'Nokia N95 connected in non compatible mode' and doesnt allow me to use any of the suites facilities. Can any one help with this ?

thanks

Hello Rafe / Guys

I have recently bought the Nokia N95 (Symbian V11.0.026). I have managed to install the Tomtom work on it, BUT only with the external GPS device.

I am wondering, if there is any patch or upgrade by Tomtom which supports the N95 internal GPS already.

Any help will be highly appreciated.
Also, what other apps could I install on it

Thanks
Namit

No, there is none. TT6.x does not support internal GPS on symbian devices. My guess is that there won't be any patch for v6.x to fix this and that support for internal GPS will come with next main version release (7.x).

HI,
When I try and use the Map Loader software it tells me the microsd card is write protected when it's in the reader (which it isn't) and doesn't recognise it in the phone. Using Nokia PC Suite I have no problem writing music and moving files to/from the micorsd card.

Is there a solution to this problem?
Thanks
