Hi,
It's under "Settings" - "Phone" - "Network".
Set "Network mode" to "GSM".
Cheers,

I work at a uni where I can connect by wifi to the uni internet provider free of charge using a laptop.
Having never used a mobile and wifi before, will it cost me anything using my N95 on the uni wifi network?
I am with 02, I assume this will have nothing to do with 02 and not go through their system?
I really am a noobie to using wifi with mobiles so any advice greatly appreciated.

Assuming there are no WiFi access charges, using your N95 to access the internet via your university WiFi network is free, ie O2 don't get and won't charge a penny. Just set up a new Access Point to use the WiFi and then use that to access the web.
Caution, make sure that your web browser is set to always ask which access point to use, so that you can select the University's WiFi, other wise you might find that it goes through the O2 gateway, and that could be expensive!
I have 3 questions for the software requarding the n95.
1) Is it possible to have the N95 make a sound when you slide the phone up/down, like the LG chocolate, etc.
2)How can I make the side buttons remain on, or turn on when I recieve a call?
Only solution I see is have the shutter open, and having some sort of clear protection screen over the lens to prevent it from scratching.
3) If there any way to have the buttons and keys light up everytime you slide the phone. I know there is a light sensor used to save battery life, but i doubt it save much.
Only solution I see is coving up the light sensor, but I'm concern how this might affect the other phone features/functions.
Yours reponse is greatly appreacited. I know I've asked a mouth full.
how can i get an unlock code for a nokia n95 from philippines?
columbus265 wrote:how can i get an unlock code for a nokia n95 from philippines?
The only place to get an unlock code is from the Network who provided the handset. If you are not the original registered owner, try registering the handset with a PAYG SIM for that network and applying for the unlock code a week later. Don't be fooled by anyone who says you can buy the unlock code online for a few poinds/dollars by simply supplying your IMEI
Hi there, new to this forum so here goes.
Only a quick question about the N95, regarding the Video/audio lead, is this an output lead and also would it send out the picture when in GPS mode to an external screen?
Best regards
Justin

It is an output lead (FROM the phone) and it shows an exact copy of what is displayed on your phone screen at the time.
Thank you gordslaphead,
Think i will be purchasing one of these next week, if i get any problems or any questions IWILL BE BACK
cheers

The video -out function is just that. it takes whatever is on the n95's screen and outputs it to the video/audio device as connected.
Have fun with it!😊
columbus265 wrote:how can i get an unlock code for a nokia n95 from philippines?
some service provider in the Philippines?
ONLY they can supply that to you. And they might want to charge you for it too!
If you mean the "product code" thats a whole different matter.
Take a look at the Product Code stickie .. pick your courrent country/region and see what codes match up. You might need to hunt a bit if you need a certain language.
Good Luck!😊

Try a Hard Reset (see below) - if that doesn't work you need to take it to a Nokia Care Centre for repair.
1. Power off handset
2. Hold down 3 * and GREEN buttons
3. Power on (still holding theose three buttons)
4. Wait 60 seconds (still holding theose three buttons)
thank you for reply i try this option but nothing hapens whot are myother solutions or to take to nokia care center

My phone wont recognise its there are all. I have checked the contents on my card reader and everything is still there. Have I changed the phone settings or something so it wont recognise the card. I'm gutted coz I'm going on my holiday tomorrow and wanted to use the camera!!
to PC .. then do a hard reset thats hold the green * and 3 buttons while turning the phone on - yeah its difficult for a reason!
If that gives you access to your card great! if not you might need to reformat it.
I'd back it up to the PC format it and restore the contents.
Good Luck!😊
Hello,
i got my nokia n95 yesterday and today is rdy to be used, my 1st nokia in last 4 years. Anyway i got couple of questions.
1. I had SE P990i and i saved the contacts in a bussines card. I have sent the card into my inbox and then i had an option to save it which i did. After that i couldnt find anything. Can some1 help me so i could have my contacts back or i will need manualy to add 1 by 1?
2. I searched all N95 camera options and couldnt find panorama, so i assume that there isnt. If not is there any application that works on the N95 and can take panorama pictures?
3. My firmware version is 11.0.026, 17-04-2007, is that the latest version?
Thank you in advance
Please help me out with this problem.
I posted back when I had my n80....and the problem still exsist on my n95...
at my work place we have a wireless router which I can configure no problem..
but to access the internet we are required to authenticate ourselves by a proxy. this is done seemlessly on the pc as we logon to a domain and the proxy uses the credentials of the domain logon..
<<< BUT >>>
No where on the phone can I find any settings to add these details.
the browser on the phone just compains about no gateway even though I have entered the proxy settings in the advanced menu....
I have searched high and low on the net for a fix, plugin, solution but still nothing...I though at least you might know...or know how I could suggest Nokia implement this.....
Cheers.....Heres hoping...
What an excellent site...many question I had have been answered...however I do have a couple. or three ....
1. In flight mode can the mp3/audio/video player be turned on with out any of the applications that would need external signals ie GPS/Wifi/ phone signal...(assume this is the case as that is what flight mode is for) ?
2. If phone not in flight mode, can the mp3/video player be used without the other features turning on ie the GPS/wifi/phone itself etc ?
3. If I get a phone that is not SIM locked to a network, will the VOIP be enabled, I believe this is normally disabled by the network the phone was originally on, so if it was say on vodaphone, and then unlocked would the VOIP then work? or is this only on hansets originaly sold unlocked?
Thanks in advance

Fight-mode (aka Offline Mode) disables Network Reception, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Any apps which don't require communications should work fine, including multimedia players.

Unlocking the handset will allow you to use SIM cards from any network provider. However, unlocking does not change the firmware variant so any network branding - including any disabled functions - will remain.
What you need to do is de-brand your handset, using NSS and NSU. See the sticky threads at the top of the N95 forum for detialed instructions.
Hi, I was wondering, is it possible to see more than just today's appointments on the active standby screen?
Hi, I need the GPS on my N95 mainly to record weigh points while traveling a new route. I could not find such a function on the phone. Is it possible to do that with the N95?
This may already have been asked before but since the 3 network has Skype software preinstalled would it be a good idea to set the phone's ID to 3 then run the firmware update on Nokia's website?
I am using Fring at the moment but I'm guessing if this option worked it would be the best solution at the moment.
Nick
Although this should will give you skype, it'll probably only work through a connection to 3.
Any idea whether this has been attempted? Especially via a WiFi connection.
I am off to France in two weeks and what to use the phone via the WiFi connection avaiable in the cottage we're hiring. There's no way I'm paying for rip off calls whilst over there 🙄
So although Fring will work I just wondered whether this maybe another solution.
Nick
I'm not sure if this has been tried, but I'm pretty sure you'll need to be connected through 3's servers to get a connection to Skype.
I just use the built in VoIP client over WLAN for IP calls, works really well with my account with VOIPBuster.
I haven't checked out this option to be honest. Am doing so now...
Does this allow you to have a landline number that people can phone in on?
I have paid for SkypeIn as well as SkypeOut and have a good 0161 number that people can call me on. Even when I'm abroad.
Maybe I should stick with Fring.
Are you saying that VOIPBuster has better quality than Skype?
Nick
To be honest I've never used Skpe apart from on a PC. I use VOIPBuster because it uses standard VoIP (Skype uses it's own version and you need to have the actual Skype client to use it) so can be used anywhere.
I use the same VOIPBuster account at home using an ATA (Analogue Telephone adaptor) to connect a cordless phone to my ADSL router. But I only use VoIP for making international calls not receiving, so I've no use for a number associated with it. Which is why I use it this way.
I've never used Fring, but hear a lot of reports that it's good. But I'm pretty sure you won't be able to use Skype unless you're with 3.
